Guest Carsons_mom
I noticed recently that my 14 year old starts teeth chattering when I brush (zoom groom) his neck. Anywhere on his neck. He's started shedding a lot more recently as well. Has anyone heard of this happening and what it might indicate? This is my first greyhound but none of my other sighthounds have exhibited this behavior. He sometimes chatters when he's excited, but his isn't the case with the brushing. Given his advanced age and diagnosis of laryngeal paralysis, I may be over protective. Any info would be appreciated.
4My2Greys
I'm thinking that it feels good to him and he's expressing that by chattering.
Guest Carsons_mom
Thank you. I hadn't thought of that. I'll try just petting his neck next time and see if I get the same reaction.

Potomacpupsmom
My girl chatters when she is really happy, so that's probably what he is telling you! Guest Scouts_mom
My Scout chattered when she was really happy. This was before Greytalk existed and stupid me thought it indicated she was cold. She must of thought I was a very silly human who was always interrupting her happy times to put her jacket on her! I've had other greys that chattered a little, but nothing like sweet Scout. Guest AimeeBee
I'm thinking that you found a favorite spot to be brushed/scratched! Keep it up
Guest MurphysMom
Sounds like you hit a sweet spot! Murphy's been a chatterer since week 1. When I first heard her do it I was super confused and looked around for the woodpecker outside who was surely making that noise. I didn't know that was something greyhounds did. Now I work overtime to see what will trigger her happy chatters.
