I have been using emu oil on Jewel's scars; not sure but there are a few new hairs popping up (I don't really expect the scars to have much more regrowth; but the emu oil does keep the skin soft and healthy, so that's something at least.) Sunscreen is SO important. I am actually finding that covering the scar with protective clothing is more effective than sunscreen; you could have him wear light-colored scarf that keeps his meck under cover.

He is beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. And while the scar might serve as a painful reminder of his past, it also shows his incredible strength and resilience.

Love this!

Spencer lost lots of hair from his IBD med, now all grown back since he's off the med. But for two summers he needed sunscreen on his legs, neck, chest and sides! Even with the mild-smelling kinds, that's a lot of smell to live with all day. And everything is waterproof these days so it's not trivial to remove. Long way to say that I really like that light scarf idea -- something loose and drapey! Some kind of moisturizer might make it feel better, though, and aloe vera's lack of smell is another virtue in my book, especially when applied that close to their spectacularly efficient noses!

Palmer's Tummy Butter (Palmer's makes all kinds of cocoa butter products, but the tub of Tummy Butter is the best) !

This stuff would work wonders at keeping the skin soft... but use sunscreen over it.
