While we are brand new to Greytalk, we have had retired racers for quite some time now. I have had a lot of experience with scent hounds and was never interested in a sight hound until meeting a retired racer a friend owned. She was so friendly, elegant and quiet we decided to investigate further. Our first boy was a re-home from Project Racing Home in Greensboro North Carolina. Leo (aka TZ Camera) came to us Mother's Day weekend in 2006. One day at home with us and we were totally sold on these guys. About 10 months later we brought home JR Proud (aka Pops) a retired stud dog/senior, also from PRH. We have high performance horses in three different disciplines and are on the road a lot. The boys almost always came along with us, and when they weren't on the road, they were hogging the couch along with the three house cats that reside here!

The last year has been a little tough for us, Pops crossed the bridge in July of 2010 at the age of 14+. He was the 18 month old lab in the aging greyhound suit. We loved his zest of life and were grateful to be able to share his retirement years with him. In Febuary of 2011 we lost our 14 year old Border Terrier bitch, and in May of 2011 Leo followed the other two golden oldies.

We had already made arrangements to add to our pack, and the day after losing Leo, were scheduled to head back to Greensboro to adopt number three. After talking about it most of the night, we decided to go ahead and came home with something completely different. Ziva (Pal's Wild Fuzz) is a coming five year old bitch, white ticked brindle, elegant, dainty (after our two big boys anyway) and the absolute love of our lives. Not only did she help with losing Leo, she quickly established herself as the Princess of Pegasus Ridge. As with the other two, she makes us laugh each and every day and there is not one moment we aren't happy and thankful she is apart of our lives.

Welcome. You're right, you've had some rough times (3 pups in 10 months is so heartbreaking). We'd love to see pics of your current pups.

Will be glad to post some pictures of Z as soon as I figure out how to do it! Any tips - the insert image function wants a URL - and my pics are all on my computer.

Thanks Yamaha Gurl - that is indeed Z's mom!
