Tigger Back In Remission

Thanks again to everyone for your support as Tigger fights his lymphoma. The great news from his oncologist today is that he is back in 100% remission! The new chemo treatment is doing the trick, and he has had little to no side effects. On the negative side, the new chemo is doing so well that it is wiping out his white blood cells to an almost dangerous level, so he is on antibiotics as a preventative, but he doesn't seem to be feeling sick at all. The new chemo is a pill, and since the OSU Greyhound Wellness Project only provides "injectables," we are paying for the drug. It still is cheaper than what we were doing as he only has treatment every three weeks, and we don't have to pay all of the IV and hazardous disposal charges we had to pay with injectables. Dr. Gustafson is still sharing the results of Tigger's treatment with OSU, and if and when this drug stops working, the next choice, if appropriate, would be another injectable which OSU would provide.

He is doing just great, and we remain happy for every good day. Lymphoma is not curable in dogs, but it is treatable, often with good results. Tigger has been fighting it since June and is doing well. There is no reason to believe that he won't be doing well for quite awhile.
