Cafe Is Home!

Exactly four weeks after I left Cafe at the vet so they could take care of her wounds, she's home. She's very happy to be home. There has been a lot of butt sniffing by the rest of the pack, but things seem to be going ok. The wounds are not completely healed yet, but they are well enough that I can take care of her now.

She's been on phenobarbital for the four weeks and hasn't had any seizures during that time. Yay!

Thanks to everyone for their support during this ordeal.

Here is a quick picture of my girl. She's laying on her bad side. I'll take some pictures of her wounds when I do her hydrotherapy tomorrow morning.

Even though she was at the vet for that long. We are all pretty pleased with her progress. The vet took pictures of the different stages of her healing, and let me tell you, I'm amazed at how well she has healed. I'll have to see if I can somehow get copies of those. We were very lucky that she didn't get an infection or any other complications. She'll still wear the e-collar when I can't watch her, and she's KNOT happy about that.

Some more pictures of Cafe.

This is the outside of her leg, which is almost healed.

Her first roach last night. By the time I got the camera the roach had started to collapse, but you can still see a little bit of the open wound on the inside of her thigh.

She's back to being my shadow. I had missed that. She's not happy about having to wear the e-collar, but she tries to lick her leg so she has to wear it when I can't watch her like a hawk.

Good to hear that your girl is back home. I guess with everything going on I missed this thread. What happened to Cafe? The wounds on her leg look exacly like Diamonds...the open skin and muscle exposed. Diamond was attacked by a pit bull about 7 weeks ago now. I sometimes wish I'd had the option of leaving her at the vets while the wounds healed.....I am so tired of her pulling the bandages off and all. It's exhausting having to watch her like a hawk day after day. I tried the e-collar but she freaked out and worse my other girl Laci really got scared when she saw Diamond with that on her head. I hope Cafe continues to heal and her recovery is short.

If dog isn't *too* determined, a taped muzzle might work to keep pup from licking.

Hope Cafe continues to heal -- glad she is back home with you!
