robinw
Hello, I've been adding yogurt with probiotics to Loca's food since she's being treated with clamavox and baytril. I'm hoping that it will help her immune system as those are powerful antibiotics. How much should I add? I've been giving her two healthy tablespoons. Is there anything else anybody could recommend? thanks Quote Xavi the galgo and Peter the cat. Guest Energy11
I give plain, unflavored yogert mixed with unflavored, unseasoned pumpkin, when I give antibiotics. I don't get the kind with probiotics, just the store brand, low fat or fat free (yogerts). I give about 1/2 cup of yogert and same of pumpkin, and it seems to REALLY help their GI tracts :-) Good luck with this! MINE LOVE the above combination, too:-) D
MerlinsMum
Good luck with the yogurt. If it doesn't work, try a probiotic like Purina FortiFlora. I have used it with my pups and other dogs post antibiotics and it's worked a treat and restored all the friendly bacteria - within a day or two they were back to producing great poops. Guest spider9174
I don't use yogurt because one of mine is not dairy tolerant. I give Annimal Essential probiotics and enzymes. 1/2 teaspoon sprinkled on food 2x/day. I've also use Totalzymes and Totalbiotics--one scoop of each with food 2x/day. HopeForHounds
A holistic vet told me that you would have to give almost a whole container of yogurt to offer the benefits needed from one acidopholus capsule. When my guys are on antibiotics, I put them on acidopholus (you can get it at bulk barn) and leave them on it for at least 2 weeks after the meds are finished.
