Alan was a great boy, and I know he'll be remembered and kept close to the hearts of so many here on Greytalk. I'm sorry I was out of the country when this all happened and received your message so late. I so wish I had not been away this week of all weeks, and that I had been there to support and help you. I had mentioned a book to you on pet loss support earlier today - I just had it sent to your house. I hope it helps you. I wish I had known Alan in person. I do know this about him - he had a great big heart and a special personality that captured the love of his family and his extended family - those who hadn't met him but knew him through your vivid stories of him. I also know he was lucky enough to know the love of a family and receive the best of care - both when he was sick and when he was well. You were always thinking of him Susan. He was a lucky boy. You created a bond with him that was quite special. In his time of need you researched, questioned, tried every logical cure. You could not have done more for Alan. Between the grief of knowing his fate, and losing a best friend, I know that you were thankful that his suffering was short. I believe your spirits will be reunited.
