Guest Annie Posted March 25, 2009 Share Posted March 25, 2009 Here is Canyon this morning. He is fairly comfortable and we are just taking it easy until we leave for Can West at noon. I will have them call me as soon as they know if the surgery will be today. I dislike "dropping him off", but I have to let that go, or I'll drive myself crazy. I will see if they will let me be there when he wakes up from the anesthesia. They likely won't. I have to remind myself that he will be in the best possible hands. Guest Annie Posted March 26, 2009 Share Posted March 26, 2009 I have just spoken to Dr. Sharp. He had a CT scan done on Canyon (at no charge) to ensure Canyon's severe neck pain was not coming from another source. Dr. Sharp is still somewhat surprised that the small tear in Canyon's disc could be causing him so much distress. But an MRI, spinal tap and now CT scan, revealed nothing else. Canyon is going into surgery now. It should take an hour and a half at the most. Dr. Sharp will call immediately afterwards with the results. Dr. Sharp says it went well and that he removed all the disc material that was impinging on Canyon's spinal chord. My boy is coming out of the anesthetic, but they won't let me see him until tomorrow, around noon hour. Now we just see if Canyon's pain has been relieved... I know this will be a bit of a roller coaster for you and dh, but it will work, just like it did for Higgins, our pups Uncle. Praying for an uneventful recovery. Get some sleep tonite as I am sure you will be watching over him and waking at every sound or movement tomorrow night. Please give him extra scritches from us.
