Today is Day 4 for Merlin on beef and rice and a little Purina, Day 8 since he started on the Metronidazole and Day 3 since he started on the Amoxicillin. He had his first 100% FIRM poop today. It rolled off the snow!!!! I couldn't believe it!!! I literally jumped up and down in the street. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! If your vet gave you only 10 days of metronidazole, might put in a call tomorrow and ask about continuing it for another 10 days. I got 10 days' worth last Saturday (500mg), but then on Thursday I stopped by my vet's house and she gave me another 10 days' worth - 750mg this time. Since Thursday I have continued to use the original 500mg tablets we were given by the vet on duty and added the extra 250mg, so he's been getting the higher dose since then and his improvement has been phenomenal. He is much higher spirits and has been since Friday. I think the Purina probiotic and the Amoxicillin must have really helped too. Quote Kerry with Lupin in beautiful coastal Maine.
