ZoomDoggy
My Sissy had a growth that looked very much like that removed during a dental. It was benign. VinnieAndRexsMom
Yes, we have had expereince with something like that with the terrier mix, Bobby. If your vet has a lazar, he can take it off easily. Here's hoping it is benign *crossed fingers* Quote Tonya, mom to May, and my angels Vinnie, Rex, Red, Chase, and Jake.

GreyPoopon
Betsy had one of those. There were two differences: her teeth were cleaner, and the excess was smaller and less red. My vet said that it can happen if a dog has had gum disease, which Betsy did when she had her adoption dental. I opted not to have it removed since it wasn't bothering her. It has since receded so that it is almost gone. Guest Snazzy_Chloe
Can you try to feed Elvis some scrambled eggs and/or chicken soup. Maybe this morning he will feel like eating - lets get some food into that guy -- sounds like you are on the road to recovery --- that definately was nasty looking!! Guest KennelMom
Well...I mixed up his favorite dinner last night...warm tuna and noodles with some cheese and an egg. He sniffed and after MUCH encouragement, at about 1/4 cup. This morning same thing but he ate a solid cup. Getting better, but he needs to be eating more. Guest jackjack
Hi there. I am just reading this now, and I'm hoping that Elvis is doing ok. A couple of years ago, our dog Stuey had a similar kind of growth in his mouth. It seemed to show up out of the blue and, like you, we were really worried. The vet removed and analyzed it. It turned out to be a benign growth of the gum. Our vet did mention that these kinds of growths can be more common in other breeds of dogs, but he had not encountered one in a greyhound before. He also mentioned that some dogs (for whatever reason) are prone to these kinds of things, so not to be surprised it Stu has a recurrance in the future. We haven't seen any kind of growth in his mouth since (it's been about two years). Hopefully, Elvis will start eating more soon. C'mon baby!!! Guest Houndstooth
I have seen these growths often in other breeds(Gingiva Hyperplasia). It is sometimes described as runaway growth of the gingiva. The tissue can grow until it has covered the teeth completely. Big kiss on his nose. Houndstooth
