Laur
Gibby is improving !!! He can walk unaided now..wobbily and with us beside him but on his own ! He has wobbled through the house twice, whereas the past couple days he had to be helped up and encouraged. Took him to the Vets...the entire staff was cheering for him. He is adjusting to his sight limitations and his personality is shining through. Besides the bell on his sister we have put the little sticky back brightly coloured gift bows on corners, doors and door casings at his face height. He has learned to pause when we say careful or easy..he knows we are looking out for him. His front left paw gets placed down heavily..his hiney sways when he walks... and his back left tootsie turns under. Tonight he is tired so he needs more supervision because of the wobblies. This afternoon he finally made a sound.......he stretched out, eyes closed and groaned a contented pupper groan !! Music to our ears...a tear to our eyes Edited March 14, 2008 by Laur

Ragsysmum
Glad he's doing well. Have been involved with several dogs with strokes and most made a good recovery within a couple of weeks and continued to live for some years with few obvious long-term effects. I'm sure he will continue to improve and adjust and you will enjoy plenty of quality time with him yet. Good luck! Quote Sue from England

Laur
Gibby is progressing although we have to make sure he doesn't overdo it and tax himself by standing too long or his wobbles get worse. He is having to learn that just because you can't see out of your left eye..doesn't mean you don't still have that half of your body when you are attempting to go throught doorways. I have told him I will find a wooden salad bowl and fashion it into a hardhat. The way he puts down his bum front paw makes him sounds like a pirate with a pegleg..foomp plop foomp plop foomp plop.... His back left foot is still learning to recommunicate with the rest of him and we have to watch it for when it turns under. Today he was standing in the kitchen and teetered off kilter..or one end of him teetered and the other end swayed and he fell down. It was in slow motion, so it seemed . He was not hurt..perhaps his feelings . I think he was embarrassed so I didn't let on he didn't mean to do it ..I gave him a couple second and then helped him up.
