retiredracers
Kristin (KRKWMU) wanted me to post to let everyone know that Bonnie is doing really well after her chemo yesterday AND her vet told her they think she is in remission. He contacted Dr. Couto to let him know about her progress and they both agree that she is winning the battle!!!! She'll continue with chemo for several more weeks and then they'll re-evaluate to decide where to go from there. Oh, and the vet gave her an injection of Cerenia (anti-nausea medication) yesterday and today Bonnie is much better than she was after last week's injection. She was eating today, no vomiting and much less restless. On another note, can everyone keep Bonnie's grandpa in their thoughts and prayers? The reason why Kristin wasn't able to make this update is that she and Drew are in Michigan with Drew's family. His dad has cancer also and he isn't doing well. He started chemo this week but they don't know if his body is strong enough to fight off the cancer. Kristin is going to try to check in as she can but it's going to be a tough week for them. Guest snowberry
Hurray for Bonnie! (If the nausea comes back, there are Cerenia tablets as well - Herbie needed them for the next couple of days after chemo, as well as the injection.) Prayers for Drew's father. Guest KRKWMU
Thank you, everyone! We're still in Michigan. We had spent last weekend here and then drove 12 hours home to VA on Sunday night to arrive at midnight. Drew and I both worked on Monday and then that evening we got a call that things were really bad and we should drive back to say our good-byes. Well, 2 days later, Drew's dad is holding steady. The family was ready to end all of the chemo and kidney dialysis, however the doctors would like to continue an aggressive course this week and see what happens. More of the up and down rollercoaster, that's for sure. And, the good top of the rollercoaster...Bonnie is in remission! No enlarged lymph nodes anywhere. Our vet is very pleased. He has emailed back and forth with Dr. Couto and we'll continue with the protocol for awhile longer. The cerenia certainly has helped this week. We debated about bringing Bonnie up again seeing how she had just had the injection. I'm glad we brought her though. She's doing greyt! Thanks for all of your good wishes. I will pass them along to the family, and Bonnie too!
