We talked to the vet for a while when we picked him up. Good chance there may be an e.coli infection causing this. He was treated for e.coli in Oct. If it grows in these latest samples, we'll be treating him for 6 months.

So, does the vet think it could be an e.coli infection causing all the problems, or just the problems with his hock?

Aww Trudy, that is rough, it is always hard when they are sick but when you don't know what you are dealing with it adds that extra level of anxiety.

Hugs for you and Ryan :grouphug

Greyhound angels at the bridge- Casey, Charlie, Maggie, Molly, Renie, Lucy & Teddy. Beagle angels Peanut and Charlie. And to all the 4 legged Bridge souls who have touched my heart, thank you. When a greyhound looks into you eyes it seems they touch your very soul.

Poor Ryan. It sounds as if your vet is doing a good job with the cultures. Just curious if he has checked for MRSA? Player had a bone infection and abcess following his broken leg surgery that would not heal. They did a culture and a few days later had figured out which antibiotic would kill the bacteria. He responded finally! Our vet told us that because this is not something a lot of vets know to look for, so I thought I would mention it. It can't hurt to ask. The drug that Player responded to was Trimethoprim.

Prayers that Ryan feels better soon.
