  1. Yes, we saw an Internal Medicine Specialist at a large vet specialty practice.
  2. My eight year old female Greyhound was started on 20mg. of Prednisone twice a day yesterday. (40mg/day total dosage) She is taking this for her Protein Losing Enteropathy and some other GI issues. I am holding my breathe waiting for the side effects to kick in. How long does that usually take? The internal medicine specialist has warned me about excessive thirst and urination. I know not to limit her water - she needs that to maintain her hydration level. So far so good .... just waiting for the other shoe to drop. Second question for those who are familiar with prednisone. Is this a large dose? Lady is about 70 pounds in weight. She is scheduled to be on this dose for two weeks, along with special super low fat prescription kibble. After the two weeks we will retest her blood protein levels and see if we can taper the pred down a little. Thanks for anyone who can share their experience with this. It is the first time we have had a dog on pred.
  3. Specky broke her toe last year chasing a squirrel in the potty yard. We amputated the next day, but here is the wrap she had for that first night. Her post-amp wrap was actually smaller! I highly agree with getting a medi-boot. It will make turn outs so much easier.
  4. I am so very sorry Diane. I wish that you could have had more time and more memories with Buffy. I hope that the memories you did make will bring you comfort in the days ahead. Many Hugs, Carol Ann
  5. I am so sorry Lori. I hope that all the special memories you have of Daytona, along with your faith will bring you comfort in the days ahead. Many Hugs, Carol Ann
  6. Some Greyhounds LOVE to share the couch with you! (All four of mine certainly do!)
  7. Linda I truly hope that the pain you are feeling right now will someday be replaced with the warm feelings from all your special memories the past ten years with Gary. He was a very special boy, and will be missed on the Chat Club forever. Run free sweet boy and find Molly. Many hugs and tears, Carol Ann :gh_run2
  8. Marc that story touched my heart. Hugs, Carol Ann.
  9. I am so sorry Janet. You gave Jake a wonderful life and I know that he knew how very much he was loved.

  12. I am so, SO sorry. I cannot believe how a little dog that I only met once can have touched my heart as much as Jilly Bean did. You were my all time favorite little dog Jilly, and you will never be forgotten. It was such an honor to have met you at Mountain Hounds, and I am so glad that I had that chance. Run free sweet girl. There are endless tennis balls in heaven. Love, Carol Ann.

  14. While I agree that "allergies" are an overused excuse for people who want to return a pet, there are indeed genuine cases where this is a true issue. I hardly think an individual should be scorned for not wanting to take allergy medicine for potentially the next ten years for a pet that he just met. My DH is severely allergic to cats. As in, he walks in a house with cats and can hardly breathe and his eyes swell shut within about 10 minutes. There is no allergy medicine in the world that would allow him to comfortably live with a cat. This sounds like an unsolvable issue, and the adopter should return the dog sooner rather then later.

  20. Oh no! I have no medical knowledge but will add Lilly a.k.a. Boogerhead to my prayer list right away. Hugs to you Chris - that must have been terrifying! Carol Ann.
