  1. I'm so sorry Laura. I was so hoping this was not going to be the result. The coming days will be hard and so special. Hold him to your heart. Spoil him. Take lots of pictures. Remember he lives in the moment and is still happy. Come here to us to be angry and sad. To share stories about your best boy. We're here.

  2. Laura for sure it can be other things other than osteo. But if he is that much pain for that long is there no chance you can get him seen sooner? My Jack who is 9 was in severe pain with panting, nose dripping, non weight bearing etc and it was a very bad muscle injury in his shoulder. So try not to jump to conclusions yet. But his pain really does need to be addressed no matter what it is. :grouphug and positive thought for you all.

  3. I've never taken both in at the same time. But I took Jill in today for a followup visit. She reinjured her toe for which she was seen 3 weeks ago. So really I assumed it would be treated a separeate visit. I wasn't charged an exam fee or office fee. The vet took an xray and needed a second view. The second xray was only 2/3 the price of the first. I love my vet.

  4. Or you could avoid the dental by feeding some RMBs. :blush

I know, people must be so sick of me saying this, but neither of my dogs have required a dental in the time I've had them, including Neyla, who is 9 years old now (was 4 1/2 with crappy teeth when I got her).

It would depend on the state of Merlin's teeth right now, and how feeding him RMBs would go, but I bet if you replaced even a meal or two a week with chicken backs you might be able to avoid the dental.

Maybe go ahead with this one, but think about the RMBs to avoid future dentals? :dunno I know feeding raw foods isn't for everyone though.

It has worked for us. Two meals a week and no dentals needed so far! after Jack's one.
