  1. What a wonderful tribute
  2. Sunscreen Man was one of my first crushes on GT. I am soo sorry for your loss
  3. I'm so sorry for your loss
  4. Gypsy was a runner, so I would let her out 1 hour before meals and wait 2 hours after meals. She has settled down with age and arthritis so she doesn't run every time I let her out now, unless there is a squirrel
  5. Riley was one of my first crushes on Greytalk, he will truly be missed. Your tribute was beautiful.
  6. Logan had a good night last night. I slept on the couch so that I could keep a close eye on him. He didn't make a sound all night. He did get up and move to a bed in the other room. He loves the yogurt (who knew). So far that is the only thing he will eat. The good news is that he has not thrown up so far. Logan has the most tender tummy and will throw up at the slightest notion. He appears to be feeling better and has the sparkle back in his eyes. Hopefully we have turned the corner. Thanks for the advice and prayers.
  7. DH went out and picked up a couple cans of low sodium chicken broth and some plain yogurt. I am going to boil up some chicken for his dinner tonight. We are going hour by hour here and the last hour was very good, he was quiet and actually fell asleep. He got up and went in the other room and layed down by himself without whimpering.
  8. Logan was diagnosed with Cancer back in January and was not expected to still be with us. He has been on Tramadol everyday since the diagnosis. I am so worried that this might be too much for him. He was happy and healthy up to last nights incident.
  9. We do not know how it happened but our best guess is that Gypsy ran into Logan or perhaps he just twisted wrong in the melee of last nights adventure. (See other post about Gypsy's kill). After 4 hours of Logan panting and pacing we took him to the ER Vet at 2 AM. They confirmed that the pain was from his neck and gave him an injection of Hydromorphone. An hour later we took him home drooling and panting far heavier than when we arrived. We tried everything to get him to lay down and relax but nothing helped. By 5 AM I phoned the ER and asked what else we could do. They suggested that we bring him back in so they could give him a medication that would reverse the Hydormorphone. She also told us that the med should be wearing off after 4 hours. We decided not to put him through the ordeal of going back to the ER and simply waited it out. The ER had also prescribed Rimadyl and Methocarbamol in addition to his Tramadol. By 7 AM he finally layed down and stayed there for 3 hours. That was the only 'sleep' either of us had had all night. I know he is hurting and I don't know what else I can do for him. He turned his nose up to hamburger and rice this morning but did eat a few bites of mac & cheese. He is drinking normal. What else can I try so that all these meds don't make him sick?
  10. Gypsy is just fine. I cleaned the wounds and put some Neosporin on them. They swelled a little last night but they look good today and are not hot or sore when I touch them. Logan on the other hand is in really bad shape. I am going to start a new thread dedicated to his troubles.
  11. OK, we seem to have found the problem with Logan. He has pulled a muscle in his neck and is hurting pretty bad. This has happened twice before and both times he reacted just like this. He had 2 Tramadol at 9:30 so I'm afraid to give him anymore right now. I will give him a couple more around 3:00 am as I am sure I won't get any sleep worrying about him.
  12. We just went to let the kids in and Gypsy was standing at the door will blood dripping from her jaws. I immediately freaked and called for DH. DH went out to assess the situation and Logan walked up very slow, I noticed a little bit of froth coming from his mouth and DH wiped it away, cleaned his feet and let him in. Gypsy was totally fine, very proud of herself and came right in and layed on her bed. In the meantime, we went outside to find the carcass so we would know what we were dealing with. The scene on the patio looked like something from Friday the 13th....blood everywhere. We found many trails of blood but could not find a critter, will look more in the morning. My concern is Logan appears to be traumatized. He is panting heavily and will not lay down and rest. I do not see any marks on him nor is he bleeding. However, Gypsy has two very small puncture wounds on her nose, very close to her eyes. Should I treat them with something? Any advice is welcome.
  13. I am so sorry for your loss, I will miss your wonderful pics of Ivy
  14. I heard about the bee propolis from someone else here on GT some time ago and just haven't had the time to try it on Logan. I'm glad to hear that it seems to be working for Wabi.
  15. In a word, Logan is doing GREYT! Simply upping his Tramadol to 4 a day has helped considerably. He very rarely tripods now, he walks with a very noticable limp but he doesn't hold his leg up tight to his body anymore. We had 1 bad day about a month ago where he was not himself and appeared to have neck pain. My DH said he was playing at lunch and might have pulled a muscle. We sat on the floor and cuddled him all evening. The next day he was back to normal. He has had a couple of days where he seemed to be having more trouble getting up or laying down and I just give him an extra pain pill. He plays hard for short bursts a couple of times a day with Gypsy and will occasionally run to the end of the yard and back. The only trouble we are having is keeping him eating. My DH thinks he is playing us but we can't just ignore it and say he will eat when he's hungry because he needs to eat to get his pain meds. So Logan will sniff his food and if it's not good enough he will walk away knowing that we will then go and fry him up some hamburger or chicken. My DH makes eggs for him every Saturday morning and he has eaten the leftovers that I have prepared for my own lunch many times. DH takes him for a ride several times a week since that is his biggest joy. As soon as I figure out how to post a video on GT I have several of him being silly. In the meantime, here is a recent photo of him all napped out. Letting it all hang out!
