  1. I am so sorry. I hope Batman and he are frolicking together as we speak.
  2. She's doing a lot better today. I'm so relieved!
  3. Ok thanks everyone! No pain for her as far as I can tell. I have rimdayl if need and I am going to give her a mssage (and hand feed her beef bits, but that's because I love her). Feel so helpless when she is hurt.
  4. Zola is almost 8 years old. She has been a generally happy prancy houndie. She has some arthritis in her back right leg, and she's on thyroid meds. So we took her to the beach yesterday and she ran around like the nutjob that she is. All good. But alter in the vening, she wouldn't move. Turns out she can't get up on her back legs. Might be too much exertion. I'm hoping it's just that. She ahd a full blood panel 3 months ago (b/c I freaked about about something else) and it was all fine. Should I worry? This morning, she didn;t get up until I coaxed her to (unusual) and hasn't moved much all day.
  5. I am so sorry. I did not expect it to come so soon.
  6. I am so sorry. She looks like my Zola. I have to go give my houndie a hug.
  7. I am in tears writing this. I feel for you so much. I can't believe Dee i already gone, but I know she and Oscar will find each other. Hugs, and heartfelt condolences.
  8. I am s terribly sorry. I logged in to read your blog and saw this. my heart and thoughts are with you. Your story, your bravery for your girl, has touched a lot of hearts. We cry with you.
  9. Thanks for all the thoughts. She slept thru the first night and stayed off her leg all of Sat. Yesterday she was walking around mostly fine, so I think she'll probably be ok. This morning she jumped on me. I swear I care more about her pain than she does.
  10. Yes, just had annual physical done last week and I always get a full blood panel done for baseline values (yeah, the vets think I'm crazy but...). So I'm not worried about kidney or liver function, just trying to walk the line of addressing her pain versus giving her unnecessary meds with questionable side effects. I examined her leg and didn't feel any swelling or breaks (I wouldn't feel microfractures but even if she had them, we wouldn't be able to do much). My sister, human doctor, also examined her and didn't find anything. If she's still ginger about it tomorrow, I'll take her in for an x-ray. Just wondering if I should be doing anything else. Thank you all for the support. I just called home and apparently Zola is staying in bed for the day, but is roaching. Did I mention how much I love my dog?
  11. We took Zola to the beach last night, first time in about a week, and she was all goofy and spazzy and went all out running. Mid-run she let out a cry (not like the drama queen GSOD but a painful cry), but she still ran, though more slowly, to me. We finished out our walk because she didn't seem to be doing too badly--a slight limp but happy tail. Wehn we got home, she could barely make it up the stairs into our house. I gave her a bath and she had no post-bath zoomies and started chattering as if really cold, even though she usually doesn't notice the cold. I wrapped her in a blankie and gave her 50mg of rimadyl, in case the pain was a lot. She slept thru the night. This morning, she seems lethargic, doesn't want to put weight on her leg (though there's nothing obvious as to what she did to it). Should I give her another dose of rimadyl and if so, how much?
  12. This is so sad, so unnecessary.

    Trish

Oddly enough I was thinking about her yesterday. I never met her or knew her personally except for her posts on GT, but she passed at a time when I was going thru some stuff with family and the love everyone has for her touched me in a very personal way. I wish I had known her.
  14. I am so sorry and so sad to hear of your loss. I did not know Trish, except from her posts here on GT> But I know she was very well loved and will be deeply missed. My thoughts are with her friends and family.
  15. Now that you know it's not the dreaded C, Miss Dee, milk it for all it's worth.
  16. Healing thoughts from over here in India...
  17. I am very sorry for your loss. Sally was one of those hounds I always looked forward to hearing about. I'm not sure if it was those silly teefers that made me fall for her but when I first joined GT, i downloaded a pic of Sally and I look at it whenever I need a pick me up. You are much loved, Sally girl, even by those who have never met you. Run free.
  18. I am so sad and shocked to hear this, Jeff. Run free Presto, you will be missed. Vanitha ETA: We should meet for a beach run soon!
  19. Trish, I think what you are gonig thru is very normal. Thinking of my heart dog two years after he's passed can still put me in tears. I'll hear a song that reminds me of him, or remember a look, and my eyes will fill with tears and an ache will settle in my chest. I beleive it gets worse before it gets better. My thoughts are with you. Vanitha
  20. I am so sorry for your loss. I have only known you thru your posts on GT but this really struck me. My thoughts are with you.
  21. Ok, don't know how to edit topic. But, here's the update. Zola has ben doing better off and on for the last couple of weeks but has one back to runny poo and had a couple of accidents. Prior to a month ago, she did not have a sensitive stomach at all. Diet and vitamins have not changed. When we went to the vet weeks ago, they gave her a 5-day course of antibiotics (metrodonazole). Also ran a fecal test which came back negative for all pathogens tested. I have an appt with vet tomorrow and am looking for things I should ask vet about. Zola is a pretty hardy dog, is not given to pooing in the house so I know these are accidnets, plus they are very runny. No blood that I can tell. She's monitored whe she is outside so I know she's not chewing on something weird. Help!?? I am feeding her a cooked meat and vegetable diet, and have been for the last 6 months. She was very regular on kibble, may try going back. But she has also been regular and much healthier looking on the cooked diit, for about 5 months. Thank you, Vanitha p.s. live culture in yogurt and pumpkin have been tried, as was the fasting.
