  1. He looks great! RE: the swelling in his leg - I'd email or call Leann. She's a massage therapist for pets as well as T-touch, etc. She can probably give you some ideas on how to best massage it to get rid of the fluid.
  2. I'm sorry, but it breaks my heart to see an 11 years old hound with an amputated leg...I only hope that he still can adjust at his age and that he doesn't suffer too much. Best wishes for him, he'll be in my thoughts... I think it breaks ALL of our hearts to see any dog w/ an amputation. But if it gives Whitey some time to run, play and feel good then it's a good thing. What's done is done. I know Jen made her decision based only on what she thought was best for Whitey. I don't believe there is a right or wrong with this sort of thing most of the time. There's absolutely no point in saying anything that might make Jen feel bad about her decision. I'm just thankful it wasn't me having to make it.
  3. Thanks for the pictures. Poor little man. He looks pretty good for what he just went through! I know once the drugs start to clear his system a little he'll be feeling much better. I take Tramadol and it totally whacks me out and all I can do is sleep. Will he eat scrambled eggs?
  4. Jen, I feel so bad! I'm about ready to cry and literally feel physically sick. This is so not fair to either of you. From what I know of his personality, I think he's one who would do OK w/ amputation. He seems like such an easy going boy. I'm sure he knows how much you love him already. Let me know if there's anything I can do.

    Rhemus

I know Rhem totally understood. As hard of a time he had before you adopted him, I know he appreciated every day he got to spend with you. There are so many people that wouldn't have understood his issues and loved him even more because of it. He found the perfect, forever home with you and I know he loved you just as much as you loved him. Mimi was probably waiting for him with Em, Bea and Okie. Poor guy with all those bossy girls *hugs* Kelly, Molly, Rocky, Maddy & Dylan the foster
  7. Selly had an ulcer too from 2 doses of Previcox. He pulled through and was fine after a couple of days. Hopefully Rhem will too.
  8. I hope Rhem is feeling better soon. I can't take Tramadol either, it totally spaces me out and I get sick. Let me know if there's anything I can do. When Vic's dog was sick from a reaction to Previcox, she was able to get him to eat frozen yogurt w/ peanut butter when he wouldn't eat anything else.
  9. I'm so sorry you lost Asia. She was a beautiful girl. Kelly

    Peaceful Dove

I'm so sorry for the loss of your beautiful girl.
  11. I'm so sorry to hear about Juneau. I just had to let Mimi go on the 13th and it was terrible. If DH had even suggested we wait I might have done it. I kept thinking that I could wait another day or so, but then I told myself that it wasn't going to be any easier in 2 days than it was that night. I'd already made the decision and I knew it was the right one so I just had to suck it up and stuff her full of foods that otherwise I wouldn't have let her have. I'll be thinking about you. Kelly
  12. I'm so very sorry to hear about Annie

  15. I'm so sorry about Sammy. She was beautiful. Kelly
  16. I'm so sorry to hear about Jack
  17. I'm so sorry about your boy.
  18. We were laughing at the time. I think she'd have had the same reaction if he'd have been trying to trim her toenails or check her teeth. She just did NOT want to be touched by anyone but me Luckily she didn't discover she could bite until the last several months. Oddly enough, about the same time she decided she liked people food.
  19. Thanks everyone. Mimi was very special, as they all are. I know how lucky we were to have had her to 15, especially with no real health problems. She even had all her teeth (as she REALLY wanted to demonstrate at the end!) All I want to do is go home to bed & cry.
  20. I'm so sorry you all lost Steph. She was an absolutely beautiful girl and I know she had a lot of friends waiting for her across the bridge. Kelly
  21. I'm so sorry about Jake Unfortunately I know just how you feel. I'm sure he and Mimi met up and are running together. I'm glad she had such a sweet boy to travel across the bridge with.
  22. Today we had to let Mimi go. It sucks, there's nothing else to say. She'd just celebrated her 15th birthday, was runner up in the Suzy Awards and was voted Greyface Poster Child girl hound. It meant a lot to have her acknowledged the past few weeks. Mimi was my heart dog. I don't know what I'm going to do without her. It sucks when they just get old and you have to decide that they're just too old and weak to go on. She got her leg wrapped in the TV tray while we were at work on Wed and cut her leg. Then she got her leg on one of the shelves on the TV stand. She was up all night Wed panting. We knew the time was getting close, and decided to let her go before we came home to her really having hurt herself. She couldn't stand to go to the bathroom anymore on her own, couldn't do the stairs and was panting more. I think her body just wore out on her. Luckily my vet was able to come to our house tonight and the local pet cremation people came to pick her up for us. In true Mimi spirit, we had to muzzle her because she kept trying to bite Kevin & Dr. Doug when he was trying to give her the sedative. Not that she was upset w/ being PTS, I think she was horrified of the indignity of having people touching her Run free Mimi. I know you're strong and happy now. Running with your daughters Miss Alaina, Fly and all the others who've gone before you. I'll miss you every day.
