  1. I separate the carafate by 2 hours if I can, either way (before or after) but as Trudy said, an hour before or two hours after. Although it doesn't have to be on an empty stomach, it works better (I take carafate) if you can. You must have gotten the brand instead of the generic, sulcrafate.
  2. I've used the fiber caps from WalMart. I've been told by a vet you can sprinkle metamucil on the food. Sending prayers.
  3. Winslow had a check up! Hi Diane, Dr. Calo just called. All of Winslow's tests are just fine and he is in perfect health. He is currently outside trying to shake enough leaves down to see his poopbag in the tree (still there). Says when he gets back he's starting plans for his 10th birthday party. Glynis
  4. How many days of panacur did he have? Because of the hookworm, I would make sure that is gone and I wouldn't check just do another 3-5 days of panacur. Did he come from a farm?
  5. The best result I've seen/heard of is laser removal. Lasts longer than just hulling. Some corns are deep. Can you do a peanut butter muzzle while you trim it?
  6. What is the protein source of the food you are feeding?
  7. Well, if her vet has given up, why not try something non invasive and not expensive? Do you know how long meds were given? If she sees improvement on the doxy, she should continue it for 8 weeks.
  8. Sometimes the white count is too low and sometimes it's normal greyhound. Hopefully your vet knows the difference. Sending prayers.
  9. Sounds like a TBD. Tell her to try doxy and see if he gets better. She will know in a week. If they are in crisis, the test for erlichia can and does many times, come back negative. 5mg per # of body weight twice a day. The other things that come to mind are fungal and usually don't have a good outcome (like blastomycosis -- or however you spell it)
  10. Very few I've had respond to cephalxin. Clavamox covers more bacteria.
  11. I'd stop the pedigree marrow bones. Try a little oatmeal--just not too much to start.

Sending my sympathy At least she got her forever home.
  13. You can and you do not have to put it in that far
  14. That is a very important point! I've said how many times: they stay as long as they need to, not as long as we want them to.
  15. Grace sends her sympathy on the loss of her Aunt Susie, but she knows she is running like the wind and she'll see her one day.
  16. I've had numerous seniors show nothing in the urinalysis and respond to antibiotics. Hope it fixes her up. They should have sent off a culture anyway..... Sending prayers!
  17. Better get him on some stomach meds like pepcid or zantac and carafate with all the meds you are putting into him. Sending prayers.
  18. I would have her at the vet,, if she isn't in ICU right now in the morning. Have them do blood work. Sending lots of prayers
  19. If they go with canned, he should be ok: RC Potato & Duck I believe Royal Canin bought out IVD products
  20. I unknowningly brought in a dog with kennel cough some years ago. Treated him and my dogs did not get it. Since it's airborn, not sure how good quarantining at home is(?)
  21. What is the source of the chondroitin? Joint Health & Fresh Factors I believe are less expensive and their products are super!
