  1. How long did you wait to retest? I usually start with .5 twice a day and wait 6-8 weeks before retesting. Weight loss is also a symptom. The thyroid is the engine for the body and if it's not working, many things cannot function properly.
  2. February 27, 2010 Hi Diane, How are you doing? Is there a break before the next tax season? At least you aren't getting snow. As you know, Winslow has taken a liking to coffee. Knowing that caffeine is bad and decaf probably is too, we have been giving him "special" coffee. 1 tsp. coffee with a lot of cream, 3 tbs. water. Winslow, of course is totally in love with Darcy Deerhound in the UK. Their ongoing, long distance affair would inspire any romance writer. He noticed this morning that they will be selling MUGS with Darcy's picture on them! He was doing hind leg pirouettes over it! I promised he could have one for his coffee. Did you see the Darcy Merchandise? Did Bev post it on GT? Truly adorable. Winslow will be celebrating Darcy's birthday here, with cake and ice cream. We are so happy for her! Swimming started again on Wednesday. 15 laps was a good start since Winslow took 4 weeks off. He was very happy to be back in the pool. So happy that he marked the wall in the shower afterward. So, everything here is getting back to normal. Hopefully we have seen the last of the snow for this year
  3. Sending prayers you have some time together. Bodie was on Transfer Factor and I believe it bought him a few months. Let me know if you need the information.
  4. Sending lots of good thoughts & prayers.
  5. Well, she is not what I consider old. 8 is pretty young. You have her on PPA and a NSAID which requires blood work at least every 6 months. Has she had a tick panel done for the intermittent limping?
  6. Hmmm....she's not balding for no reason, so trying to figure out the reason can take some time. Water/food bowls?
  7. A handsome angel Sending my sympathy
  8. Try Solid Gold Holistique Blendz. I personally would not feed a k/d kibble. Acupuncture and chinese herbs have been shown to help. forgot to ask/say: if he is on a NSAID talk to your vet -- it should be stopped.
  9. I've used Fresh Factors and Joint Health from Springtime Inc. Mizzy had a badly broken hock that was not set (it's now fused) and they have helped her to the point she needs no pain meds. Since losing Eliza to rimadyl, I've not used a NSAID in any of the seniors and they have done well.
  10. Sounds like it could be vasculitis. The treatment is pred. Sending prayers! My Heart had it twice and then it never came back.
  11. Sending my sympathy Run like the wind sweet boy
  12. Another xray and as Marilyn said, have it read by a radiologist. When you say "they" took him back, who do you mean--the staff or did Jeremy see the vet?
  13. If the xrays are clear, I'd find a certified chiropractic & acupuncture vet. Did a little searching and I'm surprised at the lack of certified vets in SF. Here is the CHI site: CHI CA There are a few DC's in SF that are certified by AVCA.
  14. I would expect the administering person (normally be a vet) to check what they are giving, especially with chemo. No one is perfect re OSU making an error. Here's hoping Whitey is fine!
  15. I'd go for a yearly check up (I assume you don't listen to their hearts?) and skip yearly vaccines. However, I have done the lepto on occassion. I have mixed feelings about giving it. If I remember right, the vaccine only vaccinates for a few strains and there are many. I'm sure others will chime in I've done a yearly blood panel also. Better to have a history than wait until a crisis.
  16. I need your address. P.m. me I say pain re licking and grumpiness. Is he due for blood work(especially being on rimadyl)? Also, prolonged NSAIDs actually do harm to arthritis--make it worse. Do you have him on supplements too?
  17. I've used it in several dogs. Short life med wise, so I gave it more often.
  18. Have you tried warming canned food and hand feeding him? Fry turkey or chicken in butter and hand feed.
  19. How old is Max? Can you put down runners for him? Sounds like he is in pain re the stairs.
  20. Towards the end, Mahogany was on 100mg every 4 hours and we added morphine. Morphine was good, but I had to regulate it as it took away her appetite.
