  2. Marilyn reminded me this morning that about 4 1/2 years ago, I had a dream about a red dog in a yard. I probably sent out emails asking -- I have done that on occassion when the feeling is very strong. Marilyn told me about a red girl she left on the farm because at the time, she had room for one and took her kennel mate. I told her she had to go back and get the red one She did, and the sweet, beautiful girl came to me via a GUR. Her call name had been Van Patton which I felt was totally inappropiate for such a gorgeous girl! So Mizzy it was. So much I could say about her. Not a mean bone in her body. At the farm: At Marilyn's -- Mizzy was not a fan of cold weather! At home: As bad as she was feeling, she gave me a last kiss in the van before the vet came out. I am really going to miss her

I'm crying too. Sending my sympathy (I bet he does very well in the races in Rainbow Land this weekend......)
  4. My vets won't do that shot either. Certified chiropractor will help. Where are you located.
  5. I've found if the food is right that you are changing too, cold turkey is fine.
  6. Any time my vet isn't quite sure, the xrays are sent to a radiologist for interpretation. Sending lots of prayers. btw -- intermittant limping can be caused by osteo, as well as a tbd.
  7. Mizzy was vomitting and overall sick. Dot looked like she was on her last legs -- walking funky, falling when she pottied, etc. I wonder (and I'll ask vet) if the dose of MSM matters and length and amount of pred. After dealing with these two it's a combination I will never try again! Dogs and people in many instances regarding meds and supplements are different. I'll ask her about that too
  8. I just posted in Food that Springtime did a run of the original formula for Joint Health They will replace product. Just call them!
  9. For those of you who use it, they just did a run of the original Joint Health if you are interested (without boswelia)
  10. Origen is what I call a "hot" food. Try lowering the amount you are feeding him. If that doesn't work, do as Trudy suggests and change the protein. And if that doesn't work, try a different food
  11. Two sick dogs, both on pred. I thought Dot was ready for the bridge and withdrew all the prescription meds from Mizzy. Found out from the acupuncture vet as we were talking about meds (she looks thru my cupboards when she is there and we are talking) and MSM came up. She said never give pred and MSM together -- it's toxic. Stopped the MSM, made no other adjustments. Dot is running on occassion again and is normal for her age. Mizzy is back on low dose pred with no vomitting, etc. Learn something new every day.....my regular vet had no idea.
  12. What a handsome guy Sending my sympathy
  13. Quite a few groomers put dogs into a crate and turn on the air (usually an airline crate). My sister lost 2 of her 3 dogs one day because of that (they were not greyhounds)
  14. Hope he is doing well Kevin! Why the vets don't give stomach meds is beyond me. Carafate is wonderful!
  15. Good grief what a cute little guy! I'm sure you will miss him terribly Sending my sympathy

  19. You need to know whether you are dealing with erlichia or babesia. You can overnight to Protatek and get results asap. Other choice is to do an imizol shot. Does your vet have experience with tick borne diseases?
  20. I've found Frontline spray works better than the Frontline topical. I checked into the Pet Armor and I didn't see a price advantage if you order from Omaha Vaccine.
  21. I use Sevin granuals purchased at WalMart. Make sure you treat outside the fence area too. Must be watered in well
  22. Another beautiful angel Sending my sympathy
