  1. I am sure you are as happy to have her home as she is to be home!
  2. I agree with everyone who has said, make sure you have done all you can, especially for the arthritis, the symptoms can be very treatable. That being said, if you know you have done everything, you have to decide when the quality of life is no longer good. I just went through this last week with my cat. I knew his kidneys were failing, they had been for more than three years, and I did what I could, but at the end, they just shut down completely and I knew it was time. What can make it so hard is when they are "still there". His spirit was willing, but his body had given out. A couple of things I learned from this list (and I don't remember who said them, so, sorry in advance): Think of the three things they love the most, and when they can no longer enjoy two of those three, it's time. Better (for them) a day to early than a day too late.
  3. Feel better soon little Bear I hope you get to come home today!
  4. You know, the way he was moving, like he was kind of sore, reminded me of how the tummy muscles feel after hangover induced serial hurling. Not that I would, erm, know about that first hand (cough, cough) He is drinking a ton of water, and I checked, he is not dehydrated. I hope it is the current bug, and no one else gets it!
  5. Well, Fletcher is still not 100% this morning, but he feels much better. He ate a small breakfast, which has so far stayed down and I've been washing bedding . I think he is having a flare-up of his IBD, although that usually doesn't cause him to yak. If he's not better by tomorrow I'll take him to the vet, and of course, if it gets worse, we're off immediately! I felt a little silly posting, but at 2 a.m. I didn't have anyone to second guess me
  6. OK, I said I was never going to be one of those people who gets on the computer and asks if I have a medical emergency, and here I am Fletcher got up about 1:30 and went outside. When he didn't come back in, I got up to check on him, and he seemed fine, just wanted to play. I went back to bed, but when he still didn't come lie down (they sleep on dog beds in the bedroom), I got up again, and he was just throwing up in the living room. It's now around 2. He threw up his dinner, and the poop he had obviously just eaten . While I was cleaning that up, he threw up twice more, the last time just a little clear stuff. His abdomen is not distended or hard, but he is still pacing, whining and panting, clearly doesn't feel well. OK, I just checked on him, he jumped up on the couch and stopped panting, but still doesn't feel well. I am inclined to keep an eye on him, and wait, but should I take him in? OK, editing to add, he's now lying on his bed looking at me like, why are you up? Let's go to bed! So I guess the crisis is over, but if anyone has any ideas about what caused all this, I'd be glad to hear them.
  7. I am so sorry. I just lost my 14 yr old cat last week.
  8. You are so right, there is never enough time
  9. Poor Jester, what a week! (and poor you)
  10. If you are not comfortable with this vet, you should definitely get another opinion! Poor Kip sounds very uncomfortable Hoping it is nothing serious
  11. poor guy! hope it is all over soon and he is back to running with the big dogs
  12. Yes, that was Richard, coming out of the microwave I have it hanging in the living room, where I can be reminded of how he looked when he was healthy. Thank you!
  13. My big fluffy orange cat, my blue eyed blonde, king of the household. I can't believe he's gone. He has had CRF (chronic renal failure) for three and half years. Mostly they were good years, but the last few weeks he has been going downhill. His kidneys finally gave out completely. He was about 14, don't know for sure as he showed up at my house one day, 11 yrs ago and said, I'm living here now. I said, no you don't, go home (he didn't look like a stray). He eventually won, as he always did. He was a talker (I learned later than most orange cats are very vocal) and followed me around. He always wanted to be in the room I was in. When I got my first dog, the other cats freaked and hid. Richard just said oh, a dog, ho hum. I will miss him so much. Goodbye, Punkin
  14. sorry she doesn't like braunschweiger, but I know how that goes, I have probably the only greyhound in history that doesn't like rabbit (Fletcher) Have you tried pill pockets? My friend used them for her very picky cat, and they worked well. Hoping Nevada soon doesn't need any pills! Just saw your post, for her test results
  15. I am glad she is feeling better! I've found braunschweiger to be nearly irresistable, and easy to hide pills in
