  1. 100 mg Gaba has not affected my 86 pounder. I'm a people nurse though, and we don't give trazodone with gaba typically, because it causes somnolence, dizziness, loopiness, etc.
  2. Thanks all! Yes I am happy at how beautiful his teeth are now! He has a follow up on Friday, then I can brush his teeth again. I have always brushed his teeth weekly, will up my game to every day if possible! This crazy hound has broken a couple of toothbrushes in half in his enthusiasm for the poultry flavored paste!
  3. I ended up paying $671. No extractions. Includes antibiotics of $125. Not too bad I guess!
  4. It takes a lot of chocolate to hurt a greyhound bc they are a large breed dog. Also the type of chocolate makes a difference.
  5. This includes the X-rays also. It is a GP vet It also says in the fine print it can go up by 20% from quote..... Thanks I searched forums for dental dental prices etc and couldnt find what I was looking for so I posted. Sorry if its redundant!!
  6. Our vet in Lisle, IL (Chicago West burbs) gave estimate of $739-$1169. Low range is no extractions high range is extractions. They say they wont know until they put him under and take a closer look. Seems very $$$. Anyone have any experience with this?
  7. I would place xeroform on the wound prior to telfa, then an abd pad then rolled gauze then Coban. Thats what I do for people. Im a nurse.
  8. The machine is usually about 6-7 wide by 3 deep by 5 tall. Depends on the brand. When its plugged in it is charging. It has a carry case with a shoulder strap so easy for you to carry over your shoulder for sure. The biggest problem we have with wound vacs are the air leaks but it is easy to troubleshoot once you get used to it. Sounds like you only have to have it on for one week? No problem!!!! http://www.kci-medical.ie/IE-ENG/vactherapy That is the brand I use most often but theyre all similar Activac on that site is the specific machine I see most often
  9. Very interesting!! Thanks Thanks. Is it too late to get pet insurance for a 9 year old greyhound?
  10. Mine gets the baby rabbits. It's sad but not much I can do. In our 1 acre lot they only nest in the fenced dog area. Duh.
  11. Arboretum View Animal Hospital 2551 Warrenville Road, Downers Grove, IL, 60515 Dr. Bonam https://vcahospitals.com/arboretum-view?utm_source=maps&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=VCA_Arboretum_View_Animal_Hospital Dr. Bonam is our main vet but Max has seen others there including Elissa Kelley an emergency vet. They seem very knowledgeable about the breed.
  12. How much does vet acupuncture cost? I'm curious.
  13. So he's acting more "normal" again. He did yip a bit on a longer walk Sunday so I limited him to 2 shorter walks Sunday and yesterday. No more issues. I'm thinking maybe he pulled a muscle like he did last year. He's getting older so maybe 2 shorter walks are better tolerated than 1 longer walk now.
  14. Panel came back and all other thyroid tests are normal so he has the typical low T4 of the breed. Yay!
  15. Thanks all. His behavior is strange. Panting and Pacing in the evenings and just wanting to lay down outside a lot which he never has before. Almost like sundowners in dementia. Panel for humans include antithyroid antibodies, Free T4, tsh, t3. I would assume canine panel would be similar. It's expensive. $200. 16. He came upstairs for the first time in several months. I think because I gave him pain meds. Maybe he has arthritis and feels more able to climb the stairs with these meds all of a sudden!
