  1. I feed once/day (mornings). It works for my greys. Zoe's food (IG) is out all day, and she's the only one allowed in the kitchen, so she's the one who's eating it. My greys have been left alone for up to 10 hours without any accidents.
  2. Run free to good health, beautiful girl.... Send your folks a rainbow or two.
  3. Casey was diagnosed with LS in Jan 09. Hers wasn't as severe as your Ava's, though. That said, regular chiropractic visits have done wonders for her. Just remember - whatever you do is RIGHT, for you and Ava. You're there with her, you see her daily, and you know what's best for you and your hound.
  4. A little stiff yet, but mostly fine.
  5. 16yr old Zoe the IG turns up her nose at kibble, anymore. So last winter, I switched her to canned food. Talked with Doc about choices at the store, and compared ingredients in some of the brands. She gets Pedigree canned, with Doc's blessing (it has less fat than the others I considered). A co-worker tried to tell me I was doing her a disservice, and I should have her on ... Merrick?... instead. Like the rest of you, I've done the expensive food and the less expensive food, as well as raw, and cooking for my dogs over the last 8 years.
  6. Passion would like to come live with you Pippin would turn up his nose at that.
  7. Chiropractor found lots to adjust, and she was walking better when we left chiro than when we entered. Doc checked her over thoroughly and found nothing to worry about. Said she's deeply bruised on the side that hit the ground, so we're doing rimadyl for a few days. Doc says she'll be back to normal in about 5 days. She sat for me at the vet's office while we were waiting to be seen, and also sphinxed, which she hadn't done earlier today (it's her favorite way to lie down, so when she wasn't sphinxing, it was another indicator). Oh, and when we were trimming her nails at the vet, we found a small boo-boo on her front toe, that might have happened when she fell. That could easily be where the blood drops came from. Robin, here are my 2 fave pics of her: When she first discovered beds: Showing off the bling her auntie Janet gave her:
  8. 11am vet appt, so hopefully I can be in/out of the chiro by then.
  9. I lived in a 2-story townhome, and it didn't impact my dogs at all (2 greys and an IG). My Angie-girl had arthritis in her hips, so it reached the point where stairs were more than she could handle, but the stairs didn't cause any problems. That said, if your hounds have problems, the stairs could exacerbate them, but I've never heard of stairs causing problems.
  10. I'm thinking soft tissue, Jey... not seeing any toenail issues. No idea where the blood spots on the car rug came from, but Doc will find it.
  11. KF - there's a canine chiropractor at Bells Ferry Veterinary Hospital, and a canine acupuncturist/chiropractor on Johnson Ferry. You also have a very grey-savvy vet right there in Marietta -- she's on Lower Roswell. The BFVH chiropractor is only there on Wednesday afternoons, but she's good. When I was taking Casey there in 2009 (she has LS), it was $40/visit. The Johnson Ferry place just opened last Feb, and I've not been there. It's GA Veterinary Rehabilitation. They do swim therapy as well. Their website is GAVetRehab.com, and the practice owner studied at OSU, according to the brochure. No idea what their prices are.
  12. Last night, I picked up the girls from my friend who watches them for me. It was about 930 when we were leaving, cause we had to visit while I was there - hadn't seen each other in awhile. Casey is safe off-lead, so I let her just take herself over to the car, while we walked behind. She was so excited to be going home that she ran to the car, ran circles around it, and then started running back to us. Started, yeah. She wiped out on the driveway, but got up with no problem and waited beside the car for me to get there and open the door. I opened one of the side doors instead of the hatch for her to get in, cause that was closer. Uneventful ride home - she and Zoe make great car companions. We got home, I opened the hatch and she jumped out with no problem, trotting to the back yard gate and waiting for me to open it. In the light from the car, I saw what looked like blood spots on the rug that covers the floor of the car, but when I got Casey inside and checked her over, I didn't see anything bleeding, and no open wounds/abrasions. At bedtime, I thought she was walking a little funny heading down the hall, but when I called her back and had her walk again so I could watch, she looked normal. This morning, we went outside, and she's holding one foot off the ground. Didn't pee, and I'm putting thoughts in her head and saying it's because she didn't trust her back legs to hold her, or because she was afraid it would hurt to squat. Gave her a rimadyl, and just called Doc to let them know I'll be bringing her in today. We're also hitting the chiropractor - plan to be there as soon as they open. I'm worried about my girl - she's so stoic, so for her to be keeping one foot off the ground means something's going on.
  13. Cause you haven't had enough stress in your life lately, right? Prayers inbound for all of you
  14. What a wonderful vet.... Hugs to you and Mike (would have posted 3-4 pages ago, but was too busy going "What? The Bean can't be sick!") Come on, Jilly... shake it off. Stop scaring your folks and your fans.
  15. Here's a secondhand story about a different kind of bridge angel... Mom passed away in Dec 2003, when my nephew's wife was pregnant with her 3rd son. 3-4 years later, she heard the 3rd son in the kitchen at Dad's house (they lived with Dad), laughing and giggling. She asked him what he was doing, and he said he was playing with "Grandma Duck." that's what her kids called my mom, because Mom collected ducks. ***************** Back on topic... my Angie-girl came to see me, sometime in the first 6months after she left, I think. We had a nice chat, and it was very helpful. I remember apologizing to her because I had to leave while she was still in the vet's office (business trip that day), and she said "You had to go make the money to buy the dog food" which is what I would say to the girls every morning as I left for work, back in the days I had to go to the office.
  16. Run free to good health, buddy boy..... giant hugs to you, Robin
  17. Did you take one of her blankies or stuffies from home, so she has familiar smells in there?

Owie.... Fly free to good health, little girl. Know that you were loved. hugs to you and Jeff
  19. I'm so glad that works for Bootsy -- Pippin would have diarrhea if I fed him that. He had diarrhea on most high-end foods, so we alternate between Kirkland's chicken/rice formula and Purina One Sensitive Tummy. Before Pip, my dogs were on a raw diet, but Pip could never get the hang of getting the meat off the bones. If he can't shovel it into his mouth, he won't eat it. And he would eat around the organ meat and leave it behind. Casey got fat on his leavings. So we're all on kibble now, because I can't afford two different diets, and six months after switching to kibble, Casey needed a dental for the first time in years.
  20. Not only do I do my best to not feed my hounds or myself anything made in China, when I was buying new dishes I rejected any that were made in China. (so mine were made in Indonesia, but at least it's not China)
  21. The rule in my house is "no dogs in the kitchen." That way I don't have to worry about counter surfers, and Zoe's food is left in peace (Zoe's not a dog, she's a princess). Pippin eats in the kitchen, but that's the only time he's allowed in there unless we're going THROUGH the kitchen. And all my dogs learn "MINE!" as in -- leave my food alone. Doesn't work when Bobber snags it before you can do anything, but it works for me when I have a bowl of popcorn while watching tv, or whatever.
  22. what she said And could we add "seeing your post has been removed doesn't mean post it again"?
