Getting a urine sample that way at the vet is safe, and no more uncomfortable than getting blood drawn. It's a very small needle. It has the advantage of being an uncontaminated specimen, in case they're worried about a urinary tract infection and want to do a culture. Good luck tonight, and keep us posted.

I had a foster (return, obviously) who was 11 when she went to her forever home. She was there almost a year when she was diagnosed with osteo. They did a careful evaluation to be sure she'd be OK as a tripod. This girl had a remarkable, quick recovery and went on to have almost another year of great quality life.
