  1. What a lovely story. Has me in tears. Puck was very special.
  2. I'm so sorry for the bad news. Seems like you've done your research, andI hope that you can follow through with your plans. Do you have any questions at all? I didn't go the amputation route because Phoenix was 11.5 years old when he was diagnosed, but I do know how stunned and numb you must feel about now.
  3. The lovely Tuna. It's hard to believe that it's already been a year
  4. He was beautiful. I hope he's hanging out with Loca and Phoenix
  5. TwiggysMom, when Phoenix was first diagnosed with osteo, somebody here on GT suggested that I have a plan, just in case something happened, as I also live alone. That was very good and important advice. I made sure that I always had access to a friend to help out in case something happened and I had to take Phoenix to the vet. Maybe you can look into doing the same.
  6. Robbie, my heart sank when I saw Frank's name. I feel like I have gotten to know him so well over the years. I'm grieving with you and he'll be missed by all of us.
  7. How sad to lose two like that. Both of your dogs were very beautiful.

  9. I don't have the experience or expertise to be able to interpret the x-rays. Don't panic unless you receive bad news from OSU.
  10. OMG, how scary! You are both in my thoughts. How is he this morning? How about you?
  11. Same with Phoenix's x-rays. They looked essentially normal except for a few spots that my vet was unsure about, but didn't particularily concern him. He offered to have the x-rays looked at by a radiologist, but we sent them straight to OSU instead. OSU will give you peace of mind. I never did an FNA. I asked Dr. Couto how confident they were about the diagnosis, and he replied that it was strongly consistant with osteo. That was good enough for me. Additionally, my other greyhound bridge angel, Loca, was diagnosed with chrondrosarcoma, another form of bone cancer, by a local radiologist. We sent the x-rays to OSU, where it was determined that everything was normal, and that what they thought was a lesion was actually normal clavicle superimposed on her lung. She was fine! I added this so that you know that OSU can alwo bring good news as well as bad.
  12. If OSU needs different or more x-rays, they'll let you know. They will email you and be very specific with what they need and what you can do. You won't go to the back of the queue.
  13. I'm so sorry for your loss. Asia Li must've been very special.
  14. My heart dropped when I saw Brandee's name in this forum. Just the other night some GTers and I were chatting about how much we loved her through your photographs. I'm so very sorry.
  15. OSU will help you. My experience with Phoenix taught me that greyhounds often present osteo differently than other dogs and many vets aren't aware of that. Phene didn't exhibit swelling or limping, yet OSU diagnosed him with osteo after I insisted my vet forward his x-rays there. I'm not trying to scare you, I'm just urging you to send the x-rays to OSU so they can rule out it out.
  16. Is it an Asian or Persian rug? Loca used to pee on mine all the time. I did some research and read that depending on where the rug was made, cow and/or sheep urine is still used when processing dyes.
  17. Ingrid, I'm so very sorry. I was so hoping for better news after reading about him in H & M. He was such a sweetheart.
  18. Lisa and Kevin, I couldn't be more sorry for your loss. Max was so funny and so special. He was always around and I wouldn't have been surprised if he was with us forever. And he is, in both photos and wonderful, silly memories. I loved Max, as did Phoenix (especially), Loca, and then Treasure. We miss him already. Here is my very favourite picture of him. There are so many, but this picture really shows off his playful side. And the last picture I took of him, Lisa. This was a few months ago. You, Jan, Max, Phene, Treasure, Brooke and Ben. So many memories in one photograph. Max, I hope you've found your good friends Sebbie, Mac, Bailey, Tally, Loca and Phene. Give them all hugs and kisses from all of us and have a blast. You were the last of an era and I'm going to miss you a lot.

  21. I still miss coming home to Phene, and it's been two months. I realize that he was gone only 1.5 weeks after he was diagnosed, but that doesn't mean it wasn't hard on me or that I didn't experience the same emotions as others here.
