(I was not a member of GT in March when I lost my girl, but her message gives me comfort.)
Please don’t cry, my legs work now and I can fly.
On my last day in March as I lay there on the floor, my body
All numb and I could walk no more you gave me cookies and they
Tasted so good, but it was time for me to find my star,
So I could shine and light the night from afar.
I will never really be gone, just look at your Grandma’s table
Where my teeth left their mark. I did not mean to chew off the
Rocking chair feet, I was new and did learn what that was not neat.
You gave me a home for my last 10yrs, and so many stuffies
That I loved so dear. Remember me helping you wash the dishes,
Re-landscaping the yard and keeping it green.
You got my message late in May, that you needed another hound
To make your day. Molleigh has listened to my instructions well,
I left her my scent so she could learn, that she was finally home.
I do my Greyhound Roo with pride when Molleigh comes in from
Outside, stands by my cookie jar with a gleam in her eye. Yes she has
Learn well and is now in your heart.
From up above I fly and play with all your other heart babies you loved
Like me. So please Mom don’t cry your memories are set in love and time.
You gave me my wings that day in March with love, so I could fly and
watch from above.
Molly
P.S. Yes Molleigh the squeaker toys bug Dad the best, keep up the good work.

If it is torn I would consider the surgery. A ligament is like a rubber band if torn completely it is not going to go back together. Surgery replaces the ligament so that the knee functions properly.
Arthritis sets up pretty fast in an untreated ACL.

Also keeping a candle lit for all the animals who are homeless out here right now because of the fires

Molly always had a stuffie in her mouth to great people. A stuffie always went to the back door with her for pottie time.
She never thought the cats were more than chin rests.
My elderly and ill mother lived with us, Molly sensed she could not jump or be roudy around Mom.
She shared Mom's nightly ice cream with her.... always gentle. I imagine they are both at the bridge eating "creamy" everynight.

I hope you all don't mind if I go through my "Flea" routine with you. Frontline Plus and Advantage are great products and they do kill fleas if applied properly, but they are not a repellant.
Those of us with Greys do not have a problem with the product getting on the skin like the long hair dogs. When applied to the skin it travels through the sebaceous oil glands and when the flea comes in contact it will kill them.
But.....Momma Flea can lay up to 2000 eggs in her lifetime and the larvae can live in the environment for a number of years. When the conditions are right they will hatch about every 7-10 days.
Treating the house and yard with a product that has a larvacide will help. Every walk around the block, every visit to the dog park means exposure to more fleas.
Sometimes us humans are the carriers, we collect dirt in the tred of our shoes, come home...the dirt falls off in our carpets and on our floors....that dirt can contain flea larvae. To be effective all pets in a household need to be on product.
This year has been bad for fleas and ticks, the products that work are not cheap and we tend to want to stretch the treatments. Those of you who use Sentinel as a heartworm prevention also have the added benefit of the "flea birth" control. Any female flea that is exposed to Sentinel in the bloodstream will lay eggs that can never hatch.
Ok I will get off my soapbox now, but I will pass on that Merial (Frontline)has raised the price of its products again Dec.1. That is two increases in one year ughhhhhhhhhhh. So you might want to stock up. They are still offering buy 6 doses and get one free.
Some of us can remember the years before Frontline, Advantage etc. ....all we had were sprays, dips and powders and they were just temporary.

Thanks guys.
I'll call the vet where her rabies shot was done and see what they say. The "1yr" stamp on her rabies collar makes me think that she is over-due for a rabies shot...
Rabies Tags usually have the year given I.E. 2008 1yr. would mean it was given in 2008 and is valid for one year. So if she got it this Aug 08 it will be good until Aug 09. Truth is the paper certificate is more important than the tag (which can get lost).
-
Vaccine protocols for Rabies varies by state laws. In Virginia the first one (4months and older or pet with no vx history)is validated for 1yr. With paper proof from a Veterinary Facility of a previous Rabies a 3yr validation is given.
The new protocol for Distemper is that after a full series the first year, the second year it can be validated for 3yrs. Not every Vet is on board with these guidelines yet.
In Lily's case if the adoption group had given atleast two DHPP's and the Rabies, then in Aug 08 we would have given her a 3yr validation on both the DHPP and Rabies.
Each state/country has different regulations.

So glad to here she has continued to improve. Now Mom gets a chance to re-group and take care of herself.

I am so sorry your Dad has passed. It is hard but he will be with you everyday, it has been 12yrs for me and I still miss him but memories always bring him back when I need him.
-
So glad the girls are doing well

Kyle should do fine. You can always ask their protocols for anesthesia, are they on a monitor, is a licsenced tech or Dr doing this etc. Sometimes for just cleanings a reversible anes. is used and they are up in no time.
-
Sending prayers for Lee. To help lift him and protect your back use a LARGE bath/beach towel as a sling under is belly to support him.
There is a new GT'er that makes cast protectors. She has designed a very nice sling, but it is not in production yet. Maybe she will contact you.

Hope Soul has a good day, it does sound like things are getting better. It may take a while for the stool to firm up his system has had a rough go around. It is good for you to giggle over the "manboob" and "pudding poo" I am sure he senses your stress. Take care.
-
Wishing you and Polli a better day today. I know eating has been hard but I am concerned about her fluid intake. I went back through the posts but could not find anything. Sometimes people use Pedialyte instead of water. Your Vet may also carry Enteral care a liquid food. Sorry about your kitchen spill, that extra stress you did not need.

We've gone from "NO MORE DOGS" to "YES, a dog....maybe..." to "Maybe a smaller breed?" to "We have the stuff for a greyhound" to "WE NEED A GREYHOUND."
Wow, those are exactly the words/feelings I had in March when Molly passed. Mac and all his friends are already working on a plan for you I am sure. When you see the right one, your heart will jump and fate will take over.
-
Hope you both get the needed rest and have a nice fall weekend. The I/D is very good in managing colitis I have seen it work too many times not to believe in it.
-
My thoughts and prayers are with you. My beautiful Molly will be waiting to welcome Bodie.
