My angel girl Molly came to me with a healing broken hock in 1998. Once healed she did zoomies and all the crazy things young dogs do. As she aged the titanium screw started to back out so we removed it. Sure she had arthritis set in as she aged and her foot turned outwards, but she lived to 12.5 yrs with very little help from pain meds. What took her in the end, no medicine could fix.
She lived a long and full life with a wiggle to her walk.
Gosh I do miss her

She should be ok for tonight. But atleast take her to the vet tomorrow. If there is nerve/blood vessel damage she could lose the tip of her tail.

Was her foot swollen as well as the shoulder? If so the pressure bandage may have been too snug.
Hopefully it is just a sprain and like us it will just take time. Keep us posted.

I wish I had words to ease your heartache, my thoughts and prayers are with you both.

Poor baby all four feet. Tell her they are her new boots to show off the fall collection of doggie fashion. No, seriously hopefully with all four she will not feel unbalanced and leave them on.
I have this vision in my head of Misty shaking one foot at a time trying to get them off, like she is dancing.

Sutures should be kept dry. The hound skin is so thin that it may take more than 2 weeks to heal from the inside out. My angel girl slipped and her foot went under the door and pealed back a nice layer of skin and tissue, it took 3-4 weeks before we felt safe removing all of the sutures.

Welcome from Virginia. What part of NJ??

I have been sitting here for the last hour trying to swallow back the tears and get the nerve to post.
Quality of life is what we give to our babies. We love them and give them all the best that we can.
When "life" starts to fail due to disease or aging we feel pain, sadness and anger. At my age I have had to make the decision too many times.
In March when my girl collapsed and was gone from the neck down I had to make that decision, but she gave me the "look" that said "its OK Mom" my legs will work up there.
What is hard for me is that I have worked in the same practice for 20yrs and when your co-workers and Dr. cry with you it is tough because they loved her too.
Since I joined GT I have read so much sadness, yet that sadness rebounded and gave "Quality of Life" to another. When the times comes to go to the bridge they will let you know, but it still does not make the heartache go away.
Well, the eye make-up is gone and my nose is running (darn allergies) time to go brush the cat litter off the bed and curl up with all creatures great and small.
Take care everyone.

Glad he is doing ok, sometimes quicker is better when dealing with a torn nail.
Sorry Soul I typed she in my first post. I know you are the Soul Man.
-
We used this on my Angel Molly a number of times...dentals, laceration, etc. It was nice not having a groggy dog to take home. If you want to PM me I can give you more information.
She will feel a lot better with that torn nail gone.

There has been so much sadness this week it is nice to have some good news. Sounds like he is doing fantastic and healing well.

I am so sorry, making that decision is never easy, my heart goes out to you.

I am so sorry for your loss, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Congradulations Lisa I know you are excited. Hope to see you in the area with your new boy.
I think there is a picnic in Oct being planned by the local group. Once I know the details I could let you know. Bark in the Park is held in Chesapeake on Oct. 5, lots of fun, vendors, food etc.

I use Advantage, Advantix is not safe around cats, so we do not carry it at our hospital. Too many families have dogs and cats that snuggle.
Because of the low body fat on greyhounds I use 1/2 the tube on the 1st of the month and the other on the 15th. This is the first summer in years I have had to use anything.
Kind of off the topic but is Regal from NGAP in Philly? His picture looks familiar.

You can call me at the above number if you have any questions.

I am fairly new to GT and want to express my sorrow for all the ones who have passed on.
I lost my girl in March after 10 wonderful years. As I read the posts my eyes do not stay dry.
To help me through the loss of "when her light went out" I feel that she is now a bright shining STAR in the sky lighting the way to the Bridge and we will meet again someday.
As I look into the eyes of my new girl, the hound spirit twinkles and glows.
Bless all who have passed and those who still need forever homes.

Hello and welcome! I am also from VA Beach and new to the boards, but I do not yet have my grey. I see you've had a grey before.. mind if i ask what vet you use? I haven't found one yet, short of calling every single one and asking if they have experience with sighthounds. Did you use one of the local adoption agencies?
Both my girls came from NGAP-Virginia Affliate. I quess I am partial to my Vet since I have worked there for 20yrs. We are very hound savy thanks to my girls and support from our group.
Does protocol allow me to name the Veterinary Hospital I use and work at???

Hello everyone....I am trying to see if I can get Molleigh's photo here and that the size is correct.

Hello from Virginia Beach!!!
I have been browsing your boards for a few weeks, but had trouble registering until I got the email stuff straight.
Anyway, my name is Carol. In March this year I lost my 12.5yr old girl. She was a Red Fawn named Molly (Slippy's Molly 1995-2008) Thought I would probably not get another dog now...........well that did not last.
In May while scrolling through our group's website I froze at the picture of a Red Fawn named Molly (Queen Molly) that had just been put up for adoption. Oh my is there Grey Karma??? Anyway, exactly 10yrs to the weekend I received my new girl, we changed the spelling to Molleigh.
Still need to learn the photo posting etc.
