How is Manny doing today?

My first girl had this happen when she was about 14. Scared the **** out of me. Took her to the vet who said that it was because she had a lot of teeth that needed to come out. Said that the reason that there was so much blood was because it was mixed with saliva. I opted not to put her under at that age to remove the teeth. We managed her with courses of anti-biotics and lots of Flossies and Greenies. She was with me for 5 more years and no more bleeding. It is worth the trip to the vet to see what is going on.

Claudia, I just came here to make the same post. Cofax is such a wonderful girl. Cofax, Tina an Bob you are all in my heart, thoughts and prayers.

I can't speak for anyone else, but for those who asked about removal, my vet took my girl away that night to the practice where he has privileges. He had my friend take me into my bathroom (I live in a studio) while he wrapped her and removed her. Every single thing he did that night was so respectful of Scarlett and of those of us who loved her. I am sure your vet will do the same.

Your beach picture yesterday was so very lovely. I am so sorry that you have to make this decision so soon but you are clearly doing it from a very great love for Riley. I let my girl Scarlett go at home, on her couch, surrounded by her favorite people in the world. The entire day was about her. Friends were in and out all day visiting her and saying their goodbyes. My core group of friends was there at the end and we toasted her, loved her and then sent her to the bridge. I was holding her and telling her how much I loved her (and a friend was holding me). My vet was wonderful through the whole thing. Claudia is right, you think you won't be able to handle it but you do. All that will matter is that Riley is okay, somehow, you forget about yourself. It will be devastating, there is no way around that but you will get through it. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

The bond between you all is clearly an exceptionally strong one. Manny is fighting to stay with you and you are fighting for him. That kind of love just has to prevail. Sending lots of prayers and good thoughts for all of you.
