  1. I bought some Bee Propolis in tincture form for Buzz. I have his corn hulled once a month and I know it bothers him because he starts limping until it's hulled. So I had his corn hulled last Sunday and it always leaves a hole but not an oozy open sore or anything, just a hole. I have taken the tincture (comes with an eye dropper) and dropped some into Buzz's corn area. It absorbs extremely quickly. So far I haven't seen any results but this is only day 4. My suggestion for those that want to use it is to have the corns hulled first and then start using it in the area that was hulled. I can't see it working on a hard corn already there. My thought is to prevent another one from occurring but not to use the propolis for dissolving existing corns.

I never had Solo's hulled. I only used the Propolis, also in the tincture form. It is pretty much gone. I cut some of it off, but just kept applying the Propolis. It eventually went down, I wouldn't say compeltely gone, but if you didn't know it was there, you would never find it.

  2. I had a foster years ago, a breathtakingly beautiful big spook of a boy, that was adopted by a wonderful family with a senior female. He followed her lead, pulled his bed across the room to be next to hers, hung out at Meet & Greets with her. When she died, he was inconsolable. He went back into his shell, wouldn't eat, didn't want to go anywhere. His family tried everything. Nothing worked until they got him a new Greyhound friend. They think his new friend probably saved his life. Solo may not be this extreme and may come out of his depression without adding to your family, but if another dog is a possibility for you, I'd consider it. Kind of like they say that 2 are easier than 1 because they meey some of each others needs, maybe sometimes they have needs that we aren't well equipped to meet.

We are going to be getting a second one soon. We just wanted to wait until we get back from Boston at the end of the month. I just hope he can hang in there long enough.

  3. I'm concerned about Solo. It's been three weeks since Rusty's been gone and Solo has turned into a different dog. He is no longer my "Silly Solo". He did start eating a few days after Rusty left us, so that was a good sign. The last two weeks though he doesn't seem like himself. I know this is kinda funny to say about a greyhound, but all he does is lay around. He doesn't do any of his silly little things he used to do. He's also had a little bit of an upset tummy, but that was less than 24 hours. He's also been panting a lot, but it's not been overly warm this week, actually it's been on the cooler side. He still wants to go on his walks, but a couple of times he only wanted to go a few houses down and then come home.

I'm wondering if I am just truly seeing his age now that old man is gone, or if Solo is really depressed. I feel so bad for him.

  4. I wish I could vote, that means Rusty would have been with us longer. We didn't even know he had cancer until last week when his leg broke. I was not going to amputate at his age of 13 1/2. That would not have been fair to him. So we knew for less than an hour before we let him go.

  5. Bumping for MZH's question (and mine! :) )

    :bounce:

I use the topical for Solo. The stuff I bought comes with a dropper and I just put a few drops on while he's laying down and let it soak in. I didn't even know you could use it orally.

I bought mine from our local nutrition store store in town that sells vitamins, etc.

  6. On another corn thread I saw read about success in eliminating corns by using Bee Propolis. I have two girls with recurring corns, hulled repeatedly, tried bag balm - had limited success with tea tree oil. We are currently on day 10 of 30 on the Bee Propolis. The corns on both girls are significantly smaller.

Janet - foxysmom - supplied me with the information re dosage etc and she has had good success with it.

That's what I have been using on Solo's corn. It is dramatically smaller to the point that if I didn't know it was there, I wouldn't think he had one.
