  1. I'm noticing the same thing with Wally right now too. I agree with everyone else they get used to it as the summer goes on.
  2. Wally fetches like a champ but I didn't really teach it, he just figured it out on his own. He taught Corinna how to do it as she mimics his behavior quite a bit. Sorry I'm of no help.
  3. I'm so sorry for your sudden loss. I can't even begin to imagine how hard this is on you. Hugs to you and your whole family.
  4. Good to hear she is doing a lot better now.
  5. I'm just catching this now. How is she doing today? Sending many prayers.
  6. I have no advice but just wanted to let you know Luke is in my prayers. Keep us updated.
  7. He doesn't drag the foot, not that I could tell anyways. I guess you guys are probably right, it's probably normal wear and tear. Wally's going to the vet in April for his shots and such and if the nails are still like this I'll ask for a thyroid test.
  8. He has been running in the snow lately and I never let him run when it's hard and icy. I guess the ground underneath the snow is harder though because it's frozen. He gets the same amount of exercise as he has always been getting. Why would it only be on the right foot not the left?
  9. I don't think it has ever been checked unless it's part of routine blood work. He is acting perfectly happy and healthy in every other way. Can the thyroid effect there nails?
  10. Over the last couple months I've noticed the two middle nails on Wally's right hind foot are wearing away faster then the others, now they're only about an 1/8 of an inch long. I do his nails myself and I haven't cut these two nails in a long time so this is not from cutting them to short. I brought him to a greyhound run today where he cut up his feet and as I was cleaning them I noticed the nails are actually bleeding now. What's going on and why is it only these two nails. I did a search and found a lot of threads about SLO but the nails aren't falling off they are just wearing away. Here are some photos. This is his other hind foot.
  11. My angel Hobbes was like that. We had him 2 1/2 years and although he did become better about walks he never really enjoyed them. He was quite nervous though so that is a huge part of why he didn't like walking.
  12. From what I've heard it's completely normal for greyhounds to have some billirubin in their urine. I took Hobbes to a so called greyhound savvy vet for a UTI and she had me in a panic something was wrong with his kidneys because of the billirubin. I come to find out it's normal for them.

  24. So my troubles with Corinna peeing are still happening. I now firmly believe she just wont pee reliably for anyone else but me. Don't ask me why. She goes pee for my DH and dog walker about 50% of the time now but still goes for me 100% of the time I take her out. We all have been throwing her a mini party with treats and a happy voice, which she responds to at the time but it doesn't seem to be curing the problem. As suggested my DH and dog walker no longer walk her for extended periods of time if she doesn't go. They take her out for 10 minutes and if she goes she gets a walk if not she comes back in. My DH tried for 3-4 days bringing her back out again after 15 minutes but she still wouldn't go then either. He got frustrated and now gives her one try at 10 and then one more before he leaves for work like he was doing. The dog walker still only takes her out once. Corinna does holds it until I get home 90% of the time, today she was in the 10% however. My DH took her out at 10am and she didn't pee, he then took her out again at 1pm and again she didn't pee which is unusual even for her. I got home at 3:30 an hour later then normal and she had peed all over MY BED. This week we had allowed her to remain out of the crate during the short period she is alone for and she did great except for today. I want to get rid of the crate as it takes up so much room in my small condo but I can't be cleaning up pee especially on my bed so i guess we're going to have to still crate her when she is alone if she wont go pee outside first. So I'm still at a loss on how to make her pee for other people besides me. Any suggestions.
