  1. poor Isis. Give her a gentle kiss on the nose from me.
  2. I hope it's not cancer but let me tell you about Bailey anyway just in case. Bailey was off her food and picky for about 6-9 months before her diagnosis (splenic fibrosarcoma). What made me take her to the vet though was I felt a hard mass in her tummy while she was roaching. I compared with Murphy's belly and his was soft. The vet felt the mass too and confirmed it with abdominal xrays. So, palpating for a mass is important and maybe some xrays or ultrasound. Good luck.
  3. sorry for the delay (Meredith pm'd me about this) but I was locked out of my work computer all afternoon. Yes, the info above is correct. mg/dL for both and 88.4 and 0.357 are the conversion factors (divide your number by these) for creat and BUN. 47 is pretty high for a BUN. Are there other high results indicating a possible dehydration situation?
  4. Oh KristinHe was doing so well for you. . Fly free sweet old man.
  5. I use a nickel and I don't scrape it on the teeth. I put the edge of it on the tooth up at the gum line and then flick down hard to break off bits of tarter. Murphy won't let me do it and I haven't tried on Molly yet (she doesn't need it). Bailey used to let me do it though.
  6. How about using some EMTspray or gel. That stuff is amazing the way it helps cuts heal fast.
  7. Beth I'm thrilled! Those of us lucky people who have met Isis know what a wonderful dog she is. Here's to many more happy years with her.
  8. so sorry for your loss. run free sweet Ryan
  9. I hold my dogs for the blood draws and even hold off the vein to make it pop up for the needle (you hold their elbow with your thumb over the bend and then twist to one side). When Bailey was undergoing chemotherapy I took phlebotomy stuff home and drew her blood myself and did much of her lab work in my lab.
  10. I've used a nickel (smooth edge rather than wavy like the other coins) to "flick" the tartar off before. I place the edge of the nickel at the gumline and flick it down so that a chunk of tartar breaks off. I don't scrape it on the teeth themselves. It doesn't get it all but it does get big chunks off. I was only ever able to do this to Bailey as Mr. Murphy doesn't tolerate me messing around with his mouth or feet.
  11. hoping for a better update this morning
