  1. We all miss Andy. And while you were not there physically for him, you were there with him, just as he is there with you now. Always and forever. Hugs to you, Mike and Kevin
  2. Had just about full amount of food yesteday, thank GOD and today ate almost a full fish and some z/d wet. Now, Teddy stopped eating. Bringing him in for labs today. Ca ching ca ching. This week so far 1200 dollars.
  3. Not at all possible. If it were, we would not have had to lift our Polli after her amp 47x a day up and down the stairs for 5 months. OY did that do a number on my back!!!!
  4. This is Robin's dh. Just talked to vet tech (Dr. is in surgery) about leg. She says because this is an old break (Aug 29) there is nothing to be done right no except wait. That casting or wrapping it will only cause it to be worse and that eventually the joint will fuse and he will be fine, and when he is bad add in tramadol. I really tried the cleaning but it's still happening and unfortunately, there is no way to minimize the steps. We have a ramp outside that he is using, but there are still flights of 5 steps (carpeted) that he has to do.
  5. White spot is skin. The only time it is wet is when he opens it up, otherwise it is dry.
  6. ears: Ollie shakes his head/body and scratches at his ears for an hour at a time. Literally. I've checked his ears, they do not smell, they are clean. When we sit with him and rub his ears there is relief and as soon as we stop he starts again. Ollie's leg was broken at the ankle his last race, Aug. 29. '09. When he was nuetered, I had the vet do an x-ray to see what was going on. She said it was healing and wait another six months to see how it heals before we do anything. She said walks should be fine but no off leash craziness. We have a lot of steps and after a few trip ups, he's actually doing well on them. However, he is limping and using 3 legs much of the time. Would a soft cast help to relieve some of the discomfort that he must be feeling? I am giving deramaxx but I don't want to keep him on that forever
  7. Geez, I sure as he77 hope not as the vet saw them and mentioned open sores on Monday.
  8. What is the difference between that and the gentocin? Also, isn't it beter to let it air dry rather than keep it bandaged?
  9. I don't float the kibble! It's not bobbing for kibble! I put in hot water stir for a few seconds, add a dollup of premuim wet food and that's it! Done.
  10. Because Ollie is so thin he has what is equilient to bed sores. They were noted by vet day of neuter/dental and I guess were cleaned up. Today I noticed the one on his left hip is opened again although he is laying on nothing but soft beds. OH wait a minute- he did decide to lay on the wood deck to get some sun before I could get the beds out there in time. May be that's when it happened. Anyway, other than spraying gentocin on it 2x a day, anything else I should put on it. My DD came for dinner and saw him and wanted him! she is not into dogs and the GH just don't do "it" for her, but with Ollie- that face- he has the face of a retriever! I don't think she really meant it, but he was the type of dog she would want if she wanted!!!!
  11. When Beau was put on the pred in the very beginning, he would eat 4 pounds of fish a day and little to no poop because he was starting to absorb with was a wonderful thing. I hope the same thing is happeneing with Happy.
  12. thanks! he is in very good spirits and he just ate about 1/3 can of z/d frozen in a hoof so hopefully wiith the small increase, he will be eating again SOON!
  13. Ehh. We upped to 10mg a day and 25mg of imuran. Blood was perfect so she does not want to up to 50mg again unless we really have to. the big problem is we all know how fast these guys lose weight. LAst year he went from ok to near death wtihin a week. So, the not eating is an issue. He had some fish today, but again, not enough.
  14. It'a going to be nothing short of a thanksgiving day miracle if I can pull this one off! I only have 6 people coming instead of the usual 14 or so. So, it should be simple and I decided at the last minute to have it catered, everything except the trukey which DH put up this morning. As long as Beau is eating (a little little bit at this point) it will be a happy thanksgiving for me!
  15. So 40mg is still in the relm of OK. Posion controlhad nothing for dogs. I LOVE YOU BATMOM. Thanks. Happy T Day.
  16. Beau with his severe IBD has not been eating- this morning both DH AND I gave Beau a 20mg pepcid. What is anything shuold we do.
  17. So should be giving pro biotics as well? I happen to have in the house from when we were desperate to try anything with Beau. I have the forti- something. He is on kibble. He WANTS to eat. That's all he does want to do!
  18. Welcome! we have a king size bed and 3 hounds that like to sleep with us sometimes and 2 that sleep with us everynight. The 85 pound one Teddy, is just like your Ollie. I literally won't have both butt cheeks on the bed and I wake up with his paw in my face or worse. He likes to sleep horizontally. I can't get him to move for anything. But, as much as I b*Tch about it, I wouldn't change it for the world- they are so spoiled! I have to use my robe as a blanket!!!! Somehow here Teddy is at the end and I actually have some bed room.
  19. or maybe retesting because it's negative and they want to make absolutely sure??
  20. we are doing exactly what we were doing- being careful and picking up poop immediately and spraying with bleach 100% bleach!
  21. Saw the results when at the vet with Beau. Giardia- negative (none seen) Elsia- postive (exposed)
  22. Back from vet- down 1 pound in the past week. Upped the pred just a little and did labs. Depending on the results othat, we will either stay where we are or raise the pred again.
