  1. Thanks for all your replies. I will have the blood test done, I do every year, just wanted to hear other's opinions. Kerri's urine is in a jar for senior testing and I will be taking both kids' poop to have it tested. Kerri is due for her rabie and lepto shots and Abel is not due for any shots. I'll up date their visit later
  2. The kids have their yearly physicals tomorrow. They are on Interceptor 12 months a year, my question is, do you feel it is necessary for blood work every year to test for heart worm? I have always done it every year, but wonder if it is really needed . My Vet says that the blood test also test for lyme disease. Kerri will be 12 in Nov. so I don't mind doing senior blood work on her, and Abel is 7 1/2 yrs old. Also how important is the urine test. I can always get it from Kerri, but Abel is a little harder to get it . They usually pee at the same time I always take their poop to be tested and the Vet always wants to send Drontal home with me to worm them, if their poop test is negative is it necessary to worm them? Thanks in advance.
  3. My first greyhound, Flossie, had a partial ACL tear. We did 8 weeks of crate rest, no walks, just to potty on leash, no jumping and getting on furniture, no steps, pretty much no nothing for 8 weeks after that we had another 4 weeks of no running. It seemed like forever, 12 weeks total, but she healed fine and never had a problem after that
  4. Nancy, I am so sorry to hear about Ruby Run free beautiful Ruby
  5. My first greyhound, Flossie loved her crate, kept it up for 7 yrs, door always open, until she passed away. 2nd greyhound, Kerri went into the crate once, didn't like it and never used it. 3rd greyhound, Abel, crated him in the begining, he busted out of it. no more crates here. If I need to separate the two, I use a baby gate and it works fine
  6. Gil, I am so sorry to hear about Tanner, I want to send hugs to you and to let you know that Tanner is now running free with all of our Bridge Kids

  8. How exciting, the first day home. Grace is beautiful, Congratulations
  9. Kerri is my toothless hound. I feed her kibble and a little can food or cooked chicken, rice, pasta and veggies with warm water mixed in. I use to wait until the kibble was mushy, but she didn't like it that way, now I just mix it all up and put it down for her. She cleans her bowl better then Abel and he has all his choppers I use 2qt stainless bowls for both dogs.
  10. I am so sorry , Run painfree beautiful Brandee
  11. I walk 2 dogs with 2 separate 6 foot leashes. Sometimes the leashes will get tangled, I just untangle them I would never use a coupler with them. I don't feel you have enough control.
  12. Kerri had a dental last September, nine teeth removed including all 4 canines and a hole in her mouth repaired. She was 2 months shy of being 11 yrs old. She has 3 teeth left in her mouth. She did fine. Her gums were in such bad condition they wouldn't hold the sutures, so they had to put her under a second time the same day as her dental to stitch her up again, but after 5 days at the Vets she came home and has not had a problem since. I adopted her at the age of 7 1/2 and she already had 26 teeth pulled. She was in a home prior to mine and dentals were not done on her so her mouth was terrible and I was getting dentals for her about every 8 months, teeth pulled every time. Since all teeth are gone but the 3 she is so much happier and acts a lot younger then her now 11 yrs 9 mos of age
  13. I would try to give him a nice walk, even around the block to tire him out a bit before you leave the house. A tired dog is a happy dog
  14. I am so sorry to hear of Roo's sudden passing sending hugs to you
  15. I lay bath towels on my concret steps and it works greyt for the dogs and me
  16. Judy and Mike, I am so sorry to hear about your Dear Heart
  17. Just remember, once she learns how to get on the couch and bed, consider it her's
  18. My two are always on a leash unless they are in the fenced in yard. If the weather is stormy with thunder and they have to go out, I put them on a leash and walk them in the yard. Greyhounds are beautiful to see run off leash, actually breathtaking, but it just isn't worth the risk. I just don't understand why some people want their dogs, all breeds included to be off leash
  19. Glad to hear T is going to be fine
  20. Sending good thoughts T's way.
  21. If it isn't noticeably better in the first 24 hours, perhaps change over to polysporin. Lots of people--and possibly dogs--are allergic to the neomycin portion of neosporin. Thanks for the suggestion of polysporin, Abel's nose looks much better. I will keep the polysporin in mind if there is a next time
  22. Thanks for all your suggestions and well wishes on Abel's nose. I have been putting Neosporin on it and it seems to be looking a little better. I guess it will just take a little time to heal
