    How sad...I'm so sorry.
  7. Hello Ike...I think your human dad has hidden you from us for way too long. He is absolutely adorable and I love your description of him. I hope you will be sharing lots of Ike stories with us.
  8. Oh poor Casey, how awful. I am so sorry you and Casey have to go through this...to see our pups in pain is so heartwrenching so to have him have more surgery so soon must be difficult. Hopefully, he will be on the road to recovery and you can put all this behind you. But you do have the right to know exactly how this happened. I would think if you asked in a diplomatic way (I can understand how hard that might be, I'd be wanting to put someone else's hip out of joint at this point!!!) they should provide more answers. Could you mention their reluctance to give more details is making you suspicious about the incident? I totally understand how you don't want to rock the boat while Casey is in their care though. Keep us posted on his progress, poor little guy.
  9. Sorry to be dense...Does this apply to the breakaway collars, as well? Can you get a tag from Boomerang and slip it on a breakaway? then you don't have anything dangling. It's seems like a bit of a dilemma...breakaway collars so the pup can't be asphyxiated, however, if the have potential to come off if the pup were loose, then no ID except for the microchip. A pup with no ID versus asphyxiation. I guess I better look at a breakaway collar. I had the same thoughts and came to the same conclusion. Check out the collars I ordered - see post #30 in this thread - You can get reflective embroidery so no need for a tag or tape. I got them without any D rings, so no would be temped to attach a leash to it. They are custom made for your dog. I talked to the owner and these will not come off unless they get hung on something. Thanks, I checked it out earlier this morning actually. I have a call into DH to measure Ben and Brooke's neck and thought about having the D rings eliminated, but then reconsidered because I thought if I ever had to grab the collar, at least I would have two D rings to hold onto. Decisions...decisions...decisions.
  10. How awful...on so many different levels.

  12. Thank you for sharing...I didn't get through them all yet, but I did get to see Nicole. I have a soft spot for little shy red girls (I've been a mom to 2 of them) and I thought she did really well under the circumstances. I will watch the service at home because I know I will shed more tears...
  13. Sending along lots of healing thoughts for Miss Gee and for you Judy.
  14. I forgot to mention earlier in my post about not clipping the tags on the D ring. Some tag collars have a D ring so the OP might not be aware of the risk for asphixiation
  15. I am so sorry Red had to leave. No matter how long they are with us, it's never long enough.
  16. I'm so glad you got to him in time. This can happen outdoors as well so please don't let them out in the yard with martingales unless supervised. Once you get tag collars you may want to consider wearing them in the yard instead of a martingale. Remeberance will have an old thread about a pup who was strangled on their fence.
  17. When Bailey had multiple extractions, I fed her kibble that had been moistened in warm water, however, that's what I feed the pups anyway. I just made sure it was all moistened. She had a little bit of blood mixed with her saliva so you may want to put a towel down under Gee's head every time she lays her head on the floor.
  18. Heather, what a beautiful tribute...I'm so sorry he had to leave you. Jan
