At 11:30 last night Britta went to the bridge. My sweet girl was recovering from a bad fall that resulted in accumulation of fluid in her back leg. The fluid had pretty much reabsorbed. My vet thinks that the fluid resulted in a blood clot that traveled to her heart. She screamed and then fell onto her side. We rushed over and within a minute she was gone. I can't believe my baby is gone. And Rynn was so scared. He could have left the room - but he didn't - but he was so frightened. I'm taking a few days off work to be with him. He has never been an only dog. We just had his happy gottcha day on October 5th. It has been one year. Britta was the sweetest dog, loved everybody and gave lots of kisses. She was a big time leaner. How she loved her walks. Last night she asked for a walk and I took them out. I'm so glad that I did. The house is so empty and we have the day of firsts without her followed by the rest of days where you have that aching in your heart. I told her last night to go to the bridge and find Tant and tell him how much he is missed and please wait for me. Kisses and hugs for my girl - I was so lucky to have you for the eight years I did. It is hard for the surviving siblings- mine expected our Angels to come home every time we opened the front door. I know Tant is helping her . I truly believe we WILL see them again....
