AT89
My saluki cross, Cleo has developed dry flaky skin on her outer ears which is causing the hair to clump and then fall out. Does anyone know what this could be?
greysmom
She needs to be taken in to the vet asap for a skin scraping to determine of there's any bacterial or parasite issue. AT89
Hi, I should’ve mentioned, we’ve taken her to our vet several times about her skin and her ears as she has hyperpigmentation and always has had very dry ears. The tips were previously tagged and the scars are irritable for her. The vet has given us Isaderm and told us to use coconut oil. She was a rescue so we don’t have much history but believe she lived outside and wasn’t very cared for sadly. Our vet has blamed her skin conditions on the breed, we are trying to find a specialist dermatologist but also wanted to try the forums as several other people seem to have similar issues. We give her sardines twice a week and she’s on a raw lamb Nutriment diet.
MP_the4pack
I'm wondering if it's rain rot. A condition horses get when left outside and not taken care of. That looks like what I've seen.
macoduck
Consider some of the products from animalEO that were developed by a veterinarian. Dr Shelton's "Skin Spray Base" is one I frequently use here. https://animaleo.info/ Quote Freshy (Droopys Fresh), NoAh the podenco orito, Howie the portuguese podengo maneto Angels: Rita the podenco maneta, Lila, the podenco, Mr X aka Denali, Lulu the podenco andaluz, Hada the podenco maneta, Georgie Girl (UMR Cordella), Charlie the iggy, Mazy (CBR Crazy Girl), Potato, my mystery ibizan girl, Allen (M's Pretty Boy), Percy (Fast But True), Mikey (Doray's Patuti), Pudge le mutt, Tessa the iggy, Possum (Apostle), Gracie (Dusty Lady), Harold (Slatex Harold), "Cousin" Simon our step-iggy, Little Dude the iggy ,Bandit (Bb Blue Jay), Niña the galgo, Wally (Allen Hogg), Thane (Pog Mo Thoine), Oliver (JJ Special Agent), Comet, & Rosie our original mutt.
