Ash
Hi, We’ve had our grey 7 months now and for the last 3 months in the evening about (6-10pm) he will bark at both me and my wife. While barking he’s wagging his tail, the only way to stop him barking is to give him food of some kind. When we’re out the house, he doesn’t bark, when we go to sleep at approximately 10pm he won’t bark for the whole night, it’s just during this 4 hour window. We’ve tried upping his exercise he’s now getting 2hrs of walks a day. He has plenty of toys but we just can’t seem to get to the bottom of it. Any ideas? ShebasMom
Sheba barks at me all the time. I ignore her, sometimes for quite some time, and she eventually stops. She's looking for attention. You're probably rewarding him by the treats. Unfortunately Sheba also barks in the middle of the night when she goes outside the dog door for pooping, at skateboarders, at bicyclists, at people walking their dogs, etc., so consider yourself lucky. FiveRoooooers
He's wagging? It sounds as tho he might be engaging you to play! Toys are more fun when they're shared, with another hound or human! Either that or he was training you for being at his beck and call food dispensers Quote Old Dogs are the Best Dogs. Giving him food is rewarding him for barking. Try totally ignoring him by hiding your face by holding up and pretending to read a newspaper or book but don't make eye contact or say anything. As soon as he stops barking give him a treat and some praise.
