Why Does Greytalk Show Up As Not Secure And What Can I Do About It?

Recommended Posts

I asked Jeff about this recently when I saw the same thing. It's not all of a sudden, it's just that browsers have changed to notify you that whatever page of the site you are on is or isn't secure. You will still see this on numerous sites all over the web. Now that I've seen it, I notice it all the time on sites.

Jeff advised me that GreyTalk was not yet https compliant and that nothing on the site has changed. I'm sure he will be along to give a better technical answer than I can, but that's why you are seeing it. .

exactly as above, browsers have moved to suggest that non https sights are not secure. It means the data transfer between you and the site is not encrypted during that specific transfer, not the data stored by the site, just the actual transfer to and from, though the only thing stored here that is encrypted (and most places) is passwords.

At some point, probably in 2019 (after secret santa because it won't work with the update,) we'll need to change servers and update the software to become https compliant. It's going to be a huge undertaking, and I'm not thrilled with the new forum software look and feel.
