6greyhounds
Wednesday Morning at 3 am EZ had another seizure - this one only lasted about 45 seconds but the post time was much longer than usual - after a seizure he has to go outside to relieve himself (BM & Pee) even tho he peeded quite a bit during the seizure - this goes on 2 to 3 times - in and out. Gave him a dose of phenobarbital and 1 cup of his special dry food (Low residue) which he ate....He almost took me down the steps when I was taking him downstairs and then he was very confused, staggering for close to an hour afterwards. The staggering was very unusual for him as he usually comes out of it quickly. Called the neuro vet office but of course he was off on Wednesday but left a message for documentation As of Wednesday afternoon seemed to be back to normal but then Mom was another story - I am still trying to catch up on my sleep Quote It is better to have loved and lostThan never to have loved at allMissing my Big Blue eyed Bear
Feisty49
It must've been scary to have her reaction so intense and long this time. Sounds like you both need sleep.
Guest june
So sorry for both of you. It is so scarey. Sending good thoughts for you both. Get some rest.
6greyhounds
I need the sleep not Mr. EZ as he is back to normal - it would not of been so bad if I did not have to go to work. I could of called off but had a meeting so had to go in all bleary eyed - now I am off till Tuesday - one of the advantages of only working 7 hrs/week. I am a casual employee and at my age don't need any more time out of the house that way will have more time to make gh coats and be able to donate some to worthy causes Quote It is better to have loved and lostThan never to have loved at allMissing my Big Blue eyed Bear
MaryJane
Good to hear that he is out of it. I've given Lucy vanilla ice cream immediately after her seizures to make sure her sugar stays up and it might be my imagination but, after the last few seizures she seemed to recover a tad more quickly. Guest greys4ever
My heart goes out to you and all with greyhound seizures. it absolutely SUCKS!! Our Olivia had grand mals for a year before we had to put her down. The screaming during the seizure, the confusion and running into things afterwards. I fed her vanilla ice cream with as many valiums as I could get down her afterwards. I'm just so sorry because I know how it is. LadyGrey
My prayers are for his continued freedom from any other seizure. I just came home from the e-vet with my little Angel baby who had her first seizure- 7 yrs old. 3 minutes and then calmed down. She is there for the night with fluids and potassium. I am wide awake and will be for the rest of the night. It is 2:19 am now. My heart goes out to you. I am so scared now.
6greyhounds
Oh I am so sorry these seizures are so scary - praying for you that the vets will get her under control - EZ has a neuro vet and he is in the same building as the ER along with a few other specialists - Quote It is better to have loved and lostThan never to have loved at allMissing my Big Blue eyed Bear
Guest verthib
Maybe the pheno made him staggery and confused. Is pheno supposed to be given *after* the seizure? I don't know much about it. Also are seizures common for greys? My rescue never said anything about it.

How are you doing? Have you gotten any valuable sleep yet? My prayers are going up for you and EZ. Thank you 6greyhounds for your kind words for Angel. I got a good report from the doc this morning that she is doing very well. Doc will call when it is time to pick her up.
6greyhounds
The pheno did not make him stagger, he was zapped by the lure when he was racing and I think that is what caused his seizures glad you got a good report on Angel - again hope the vet finds the right combination for her Quote It is better to have loved and lostThan never to have loved at allMissing my Big Blue eyed Bear
