Guest isntitgreyt
This morning my son asked if I had seen Rainman's chin. I said no and quickly went to look. He has a 2" gash under his chin so off to the vet we went. Thankfully my vet sees emergencies but doesn't charge what an E-Vet does. The gash is close to the juglar vein so thank Dog he didn't hit that but he does have to be put under light anethesia this afternoon to get stitched up. I can't find where he did it and I've looked and looked and looked. I just don't like when one of mine have to be put under anesthesia I'm sorry it's taking me a while to update him but I had my hands full with him and then my 2 yo nephew came over! He's doing good. Walking like a drunk He got a lot of stitches but the dr didn't know how many. I have him on painkillers and antibiotics. He has an E-collar and for some reason my camera is MIA when I need it. Thank you for all the positive thoughts! Edited November 1, 2010 by isntitgreyt
Guest Energy11
Sending good thoughts your way! He should be fine ... the key word here is LIGHT anesthesia. Maybe he got his chin snagged on a fence? Maybe a branch? Too bad they can't talk~ Sending hugs your way, too!
Guest Swifthounds
Sending lots of good thoughts your way. I usually opt for light sedation when needed (ie the dog is dopey but awake), especially since the only dog that has needed it will be 13 next week. For sutures or staples I usually oft for just topical numbing, though close to the jugular I'd probably go with dopey. He'll be fine, and you'll be fine and we're all sending good thoughts for a speedy recovery.

Guest isntitgreyt
Could they do just a local? We have had stitches done that way. Good thoughts coming for Rainman from central New Jersey. The vet didnt' want to do a local since it's deep and where it's at on his chin/side of his mouth. I wanted them to only do a local and stitch him and let me bring him right back home. I'm still waiting to hear how he is. They were to do this after their appointments which could end at 12 or up to 2. Patience is NOT my virtue but I'm trying. I know it's not a major surgery or anything but I just hate it when they get hurt! Thank you for the positive thoughts for my big goofy love bug Rainman!
