RobinM
And the valium has been given. We live on the water, opposite our home across the water is the country club which hosts a 30 minute display of fireworks every year. In addition, we have all the amatuers who shoot off the fireworks into the water. It's endless and my poor dogs; especially Elsie, Chloe and Beau have such a hard time. Hoping everyone gets through this OK. From our house to yours... be safe. Hollis
Everybody got Quiet Moments. I may give Norm and Honey more as they seem to be the only ones bothered. And I think tomorrow night we made head to the bottom floor. Mostly underground and I can turn that TV up MUCH louder then this one. Quote My sweet angel Tanner-"Showoffs Magic" 79D-82695. Magdalyn58
Immediately to our south is the fireworks extravaganza of the Mohegan Sun Casino and to our west one mile away we have our local fireworks display over the Susquehanna River. And of course, there is the ever present neighborhood folks setting off illegal fireworks that has been going on all day, and all week. And this is only July 3. I have the windows all tightly closed and the AC on to muffle the booming. It's like we're all under siege....
RobinM
All over. Thank DoG. I can still hear the little ones here and there and this is with the fans, ac and tv going, but at least the big "show" is over from across the canal. Tomorrow will be the amatuers. CaliforniaGreys
I have the windows all tightly closed and the AC on to muffle the booming That's what I just did. I hate closing the windows when it's cool enough to have them open and the ac off. Tomorrow night I'll be prepared with the Ativan! winnie
A house in our neighborhood burned down Thursday night due to fireworks ( clicky). Yet, that doesn't seem to stop the idiots from setting them off tonight. Celeste and Bonny are nervous wrecks right now. tra708
we were hunkered down in the bedroom tonight with a fan on loud and the soccer game blaring full blast. they had some drugs, but they still shook some. i've read that you should just act like nothing's going on.... but ours seemed very comforted to be held and petted when they were scared. gosh, this is such a drag. it's weird because the "pops" we hear outside from the neighborhood are so muffled....oh, well. they're fast asleep for now. Guest GoingRogue
Having the occasional, muffled pops here, even though they are not supposed to be shooting them here. Tomorrow night will be much worse. We were going to the lake but it can get crazy there. Bad thing is there are so many people who still shoot them late into the night. I have fallen asleep to the sound of fireworks on July 4th and new years.

o_rooly
It's legal in our city to fire off "safe and sane" ones from Noon to Midnight on the 4th only; of course, illegals can be fired anytime since they're outside the law anyway Someone fired off an artillery shell tonight in immediate range of our condo, scaring us half to death. Each time something booms, I ask my fiance which firework it is, since he grew up in East L.A. and is very familiar with illegal firework noises.. apparently, we have quite the variety around here. Aston got some melatonin in cheese at 7pm. He seems OK so far. All windows closed, but no A/C on, since the sound doesn't make it upstairs anyway. Quote every day a tiny adventure. Guest Energy11
The gate across our private road is LOCKED, so no one can come up here on their ATVs and tresspass or shoot of anything, BUT, down on the county road leading up to our road, there are rental cabins. There were a few pops out there last night, but the ACs were on, TV, etc., and even Cari wasn't phased. We lived in a literal warzone in Fla. The kids on our street set the illegal ones off days prior and after the 4th. I always wondered WHERE the parents were??? Those kids were always "running loose," in the street! Horrible! When I was a paramedic, I saw quite a few fingers blown off by those things, not to mention one adult, whose face got burned pretty badly at an amature beach display! Other than the legal ones, shoot off by the experts, NO other fireworks, firecrackers, etc. should be legal or able to be sold!
Guest Sweetreba
I live in a large development and the cookouts started Fri and will go till Mon. with fireworks going off all evening and sometimes late morning and off and on all day. At 10pm or so I get all the finale's from about 6 neighboring cities and these can go every night depending on when they do their displays. You would think that would be it but around here you can hear leftover fireworks for a couple weeks around the neighborhood. Drives me and my Reba nuts. Me because she hates them. Petey could have a bomb go off right next to him and he may open one eye.
PrairieProf
The town where I'm staying at present had its fireworks Friday night (about two miles away) -- Beth raised her head for a couple of seconds when they started but that was it. The annoying private ones having been going for several days and will continue for some time -- they interfere with my sleep more than the dog's. I know how lucky I am, and send best wishes to others. gazehund
Our neighbors (they are about a half mile away) will put on a nice display tonight. Fireworks are illegal in NY but they do a show every year. They are dang good at it too, it is a really good show. None of my dogs react to them in any way. I feel for you guys.

nyGreys
We've had the illegal ones for 2 nights now & I'm sure we'll hear them tonight. Mindy shakes so bad. ArchE just stares at me with buggy eyes as if he's asking, "what is that mommy?, Is it thunder?, Kuz if it is, I'm gonna start panting & shaking to"!
