Welcome! I hesitate over calling greytalk decadent, but thanks for the compliment. Glad to have you here and I'm looking forward to see the pix!

I lived in SoCal for two years and miss it very much.

Update: We got a recommendation for a dark brindle guy who's currently living with his foster family out a bit east of us :) We'll hopefully get to pick him up tonight on a "borrow" basis to make sure he'll get along reasonably well with my bossy parrot. :goodluck:goodluck:goodluck:rollin I have a VERY antsy stomach right now!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEE...

Here's majorly hoping we'll be his forever home!!!! :offwall

Edited: I can't spell when I'm excited on top of being caffeinated

Sorry for the delay!! I was biting my lip through the "borrow" period since I like to overanalyze EVERYTHING, but today I drove back to the foster home to sign papers and now Aston is officially OURS!!! :bounce8:beatheart:headbang

Some action shots - pardon the motion blurs ;)

AND! his current pose, as of two minutes ago:

He is 6 years old, has racing tatts but never raced according to his greyhound-data record. This may be due to his left hind leg - he favors it quite a bit, and even tripod-bunny-hops when he starts to pick up speed. No tenderness anywhere, though, and past vet checks haven't turned up anything..

He doesn't seem to have any SA - I started alone training asap as I was instructed, and I've gotten up to two hours of being away without him batting an eyelash, it seems. He stays at my side w/slack leash on walks, he isn't tempted by potty water, he doesn't bother for handouts when we're eating people food, he takes stairs like a PRO! He is super patient, letting me stick my fingers in his mouth to check his teeth and wrestling with his martingale and tag collars (I'm such a noob).

His tummy has been fine with the transition so far - no accidents or barf/D, he has been crying a little here and there BUT we have gotten some wags out of him and he even gave my fiance kisses today (I'M JEALOUS :( )! He seemed pretty aloof yesterday, but today when my fiance and I returned from our respective errands in the afternoon, Aston came to greet us at the door as we arrived, with his tail going like mad.

He is such a love. What I don't understand is how his first family gave him up after four years?? and he was in two foster homes before we got him. I am nooot one to look a gift dog in the mouth :blush , just sayin'. He is making it TOO EASY!! I feel like I'm cheating on a Dog-Owner 101 test.:offwall

I'm still tripping out over it all. No dogs before and I'm euphoric. And waking up at 6:30am without an alarm to take Aston on morning walks. !!!

Oh, he sounds and looks wonderful.

Pretty boy too. Did you deliberately choose a bed that matches his collar??

I mean you are really into this!

What a wonderful journey you are on.

BTW, what is :

JWLKAJFKELWJAFKLEJWAKFEJWALGNHAJGHW!!!

:dunno

The collar came with him, and the bed color was the one that happened to be in stock at Costco. I LOVE THESE DOG BEDS. I am very into the shopping aspect of dog ownership but the matching thing was luck :)

The jumble of letters is what happens when I lose my ability to articulate because of happy.. I couldn't think of any more words to blab with :blah

You can't always count on greyhound-data for race records. Some tracks don't report their races to GD. It's possible he raced, but just doesn't have any races listed.

Happily, Aston is still doing great! He is very much a gentleman, very sweet and confident when we are accosted by hordes of children on walks  some of the neighborhood kids now yell his name and run after us when they see him walking by, and he sees them and just wags while they petting-zoo him

Good point.. I think I saw mention of non-reporting tracks on GT lately? It would make sense if he did race some, as then his possible meniscus tear could be an old racing injury. :huh
