Guest DorasMom Posted December 25, 2008 Share Posted December 25, 2008 On Sunday night my 9.5 yr old girl decided to step on her sleeping brother. She got him right between the ribs with her nails so I know this was purely a pain reflex as Toby is the most submissive dog in my pack. He got her in the eye, so off to the emergency vet we go. They took one look at her and said all they could do was flush the wounds, she would have to see an opthamologist in the morning. Her lower eyelid was ripped over half off, her tear duct was damaged and she had multiple lacerations around the eye. Monday morning at 8am we took off for Dr. Quinn's office. Ten hours and 1800.00 later we came back home. I must say Dr. Quinn did an amazing job reconstructing her eye. Over 30 stitches, many of them microscopic as some of the peices that had to be rebuilt were the width of a human hair. I was very lucky that we have an opthamologist 45 min away as there are only four in Ontario!! Dora is doing very well with her cone and I am guarding my 1800.00 investment like a hawk!!
