Guest smarthound
Does anyone give milk thistle? I've read that it's a good idea following a dose of heartworm medication.
GreyTzu
I haven't heard about using it after monthly HW treatment. However, we used it for Dylan when he was going through chemo. I believe I was giving him one cap. a day that was either 200 or 250 mg. Quote Wendy and The Whole Wherd. American by birth, Southern by choice. TheFullHouse
I use it for Saint to support his liver from his seizure meds but I've never heard of it for heart worm medication. Saint gets 250mg. twice a day. GeorgeofNE
As to where to get it, any health food store. I got mine online when George's liver enzymes went wonky; Vitacost.com has great prices, very speedy and reasonable shipping. Quote Susan, Hamish, Mister Bigglesworth and Nikita Stanislav. galgrey
Does anyone give milk thistle? I've read that it's a good idea following a dose of heartworm medication. I buy it at my local healthfood store. Heartworm preventative is actually a toxin/poison so detoxifying the liver afterwards isn't a bad idea. I used it when my non-greyhound had hemangiosarcoma to assist her liver function, but using it prior to illness makes more sense. Guest smarthound
Thanks for the input everyone. It sounds like a good preventative measure to me.
NeylasMom
It's sold as Marin on Omahavaccine.com. I don't think it's particularly expensive.
