Guest LindsaySF
I also believe it is a possibility that the Baytril he is on is causing the loose stools. I know Frazzle, who also had a sensitive tummy, had problems with some antibiotics. Yup that's a possibility too. Teagan is on Baytril now too for his infected anal glands, and he has soft stool. He also would not eat canned pumpkin. Is Blitz eating the cooked chicken ok?

Guest crazy4greys
As for the kibble, did you try adding in canned food when he started to get picky? He loved the canned EVO (silver one).

dmswartzfager
That boy knows what the chicken container sounds like, and he goes trotting into the kitchen whenever he hears it. BM's continue to be soft but formed. I think he's put 2-3 pounds back on. He's also following us around more often and is getting very nosey about places in the house he has not yet had a chance to explore (the garage and the foyer for example). He's a lot like our Tyler in some respects - he just wants to lean on you and be loved. Then he's like our girls or Marcus in that he's very nosey. Brian tells me he also likes to check out plastic shopping bags when you come through the door. (I said good, I miss Frazzle diving his nose into every bag before you can put them down.) He's a lot brighter and starting to really settle in and I hope we can figure out what this mass is and why he's so painful in that one spot up in his tuck and put this worrying behind us. One of Dr. Couto's staff and our surgeon were able to chat today and OSU is e-mailing surgical protocol to the surgeon to help with bleeding during and after the surgery. The surgeon will have that all set up and ready to rock'n'roll on Wednesday. Any bets that this mass is a latex glove that he ate in January? His vet records state that he ate a pair of latex gloves, but as far as we know (per the records), only one was found. I would be very happy if it were that simple.... Guest LindsaySF
Hopefully it is something as simple as a glove! I wonder if it would stay 'in there' for that long though? Not unheard of I guess!
dmswartzfager
Hopefully it is something as simple as a glove! I wonder if it would stay 'in there' for that long though? Not unheard of I guess! Well, there was a doberman at our clinic a few weeks ago that had just had about 10 corncobs removed from its stomach, and the corncobs had been in there at least 10 weeks. So who knows? It looks like I'll be the one taking Blitz in this morning - I woke up feeling like I have a kidney stone, so I called in sick, just sent off my lesson plans, and am about to head back to bed for about an hour before I have to be up to take him over there. So I'll be the contact person today (as opposed to DH, who would normally do it because he can have a cell phone with him at work whereas I can't) and I'll post information as I learn it. Brian just showed me the prescription for Blitz that the referral center had him pick up from CVS last night - Amicar. That's what Dr. Couto uses to help prevent post-operative bleeding/bruising. I'm to drop it off with Blitz, who can be dropped off any time between 7:30 and 8:00. Based on when they called us on Friday, I would say surgery will start between 9 and 10, and is supposed to last 1.5 to 3 hours depending on what they find.
