Betsy has a few spurs. She's on pain meds (Metacam steroids and Tramadol) long term. We tried Cartrophen (Product Info) and laser, and neither helped. She's 13; the symptoms showed up about a year ago, when she had just turned 12. Edited because I mis-identified Betsy's meds.

I'm so very sorry. He lived to a good age, but they never live long enough. Godspeed Amadeus.

I'm so sorry about the loss of your boy. One of my girls broke her femur under similar conditions--in the house, not doing much. There wasn't any sign of OS. The femur was pieced back together. She went through 7 months of 'recovery' before the OS finally showed up on the x-rays, by which time the only thing holding her leg together was the plate used to repair the break. OS can be horribly sneaky.

With so many current/former greys, it's a little hard to answer. But basically, they've all learned how to sit on command, albeit some more promptly than others. An obvious bribe does tend to induce a faster response. Some will even offer a sit in the hope of getting a treat. Poppy is the funniest--she'll follow me around the house, and toss in a sit whenever she thinks it might work. The other funny thing is to see one offer a sit and get noticed (whether or not the treat has been delivered) and then watch others rush up to sit as well.
