We saw a little bear today and then I saw my moose!!!
Then saw another moose... dead by the road
and more deer with a deathwish
-
which is why most of the pics are of the dogs
The most exciting part of the day was a little dog jumping out the window of an SUV to attack Jet and Ryan who both decided he'd make a good snack.
Gotta see wildlife to feed them...
Glacier close up
photo from the east side entrance - might be St Mary Lake, but not sure
Wild goose island
on the way back to the hotel - outside the park... Ryan likes mountain run off
Jet checking things out while Ryan hogs the back seat
Jet wasn't impressed...
Half the road was closed - the middle half, where it seems all wildlife must have been hanging out. Long trip to go around and see what was open on the road on the other side.

Good luck with your decision. Only you can decide what is right for your dog.
I have two 9 year old greys. I'd personally not opt for amputation with my 2, even if they were younger.
I'm sorry that info on osteo is what brought you to the board, but welcome to Greytalk.

stupid hiding moose!
Stupid deer in Montana with a death wish!
I've seen plenty of deer. Heck, I didn't have my car for 6 weeks thanks to a deer.
I want to see a moose (preferably NOT in the middle of the road while doing 75), not more stinking deer!

We arrive in Kodiak on June 27
(How rude though, to have wiped out my wally truck guess on the very first day)We should have driven through Wyoming first then.... one lone wally truck yesterday and that was actually still in SD
-
Most expensive has been NY at over $4.00 ($4.13 with our last fill up there)
MI was just over $4.00
Everywhere else has been under $4.00 so far
We didn't so much decide to move to Kodiak, AK as the USCG told us we were moving to Kodiak

the damage one match can do (fire was in the black hills in 2000)
Jet and Ryan do Mt Rushmore
Some buffalo
Ryan checking out the buffalo
Wyoming... pretty, but it is kind of like the land time forgot... we didn't see much other than hills and then about 134842932342369434 pounds of coal
Buffalo, WY

crazy dogs
in the western half of South Dakota
where the buffalo roam and the deer and the antelope play (saw them all today)
Mt Rushmore tonight around 10:30

needed no paperwork for anything. We had it, but nobody asked for it. I handed them my military ID along with our passports, and it made for fast crossings ...Jeff
-
You went over the Ambassador Bridge? I used to live almost right next to it!
Safe and happy trip - the dogs seem to be taking things in stride!
No, we came over north of Detroit

That's it... I'm done driving!!
It has only been 2 days, but each time... rain!
heading back into the US (Michigan) yesterday:

Updated
I'll be closing this before I leave the hotel in the morning, so if you want to play, get that number in now.
greyhound1 - you need to pick a different number as what you selected was already in the list. We have you listed at 0... I'm pretty sure we'll see more than that before we make it to Rochester tomorrow afternoon
-
high protein how...
protein/creatinine ratio is the test you'd need before deciding to do anything.
Ryan's protein is still through the roof... he's not on any special food, but we did change him off of Evo Red Meat to something with lower protein, but not to KD

Greyhounds lay down a lot.
Greyhounds can weigh from 45-105 pounds at 2 years. A 75 pound boy at 2 years old sounds perfectly normal to me.

We head out on Friday afternoon
Here's our trip plan - might be useful for you with the little contest we'll be doing
We'll be counting/recording the number of Walmart trailers we see while on our trip.
We know how everybody on Greytalk loves Walmart, so it seemed appropriate
So, from today until we are ready to head out on Friday afternoon, you can post in this thread to let us know how many Walmart trailers you think we'll see on our trip. The ones that count are those that we see on the road, in rest areas, parked somewhere, whatever.... if we see a Walmart trailer, it will be counted.
Once we get to Kodiak, we'll figure out a prize.
Winner - the person that is the closest without going over will win. ONLY ONE WINNER, so make sure you aren't guessing the same number as somebody else.
We'll close this thread before we hit the road on Friday, so get your guess in before then.
Good luck!

Ryan has been on Pb for 4 years and KBr for 2+ years.
His liver still checks out fine.

Maybe because it's animated? Does anyone know how to make a siggy? I would love to have one for here with my brand new 2nd grey we just got.
Use the one rallyp resized for you.
You won't get the animation to be under 15k.

In photobucket...
UNDER the thumbnail of the image you are interested in....
CLICK in the box next to where it says IMG CODE....
(it should say copied once you just click)
Just paste that text into your GT reply box - it already has the img tags you need to show the picture.
should look like this...

Jet is a hairy little girl. I hardly ever see those little bug bites on her.
Ryan is naked on his belly, legs, and very thin haired everywhere else. He's always covered in those bites in the spring.
-
Clots can be very painful. Ryan had one that was about 6-8" long in his neck. Now that's a clot!
The boy who had a stick go through his foot and never even flinched was screaming any time he moved. I think his top speed during that time was 0.02 mph - he would get up for a walk so I had to harness him up and take him to the corner (one house away) and back again. He was happy to go for his very slow walk. Since he was still happy to eat and walk, but just in serious pain and no real prognosis other than "let nature take its course"
I promised to give him a week to see if we could get his pain under control, if not, then we'd put him down.
Luckily, daily pain injections and butt loads of tramadol and some gabapentin as well got him to where he wasn't yelping with every movement.
It's been 8 months and he still has odd issues pop up and we still don't know what is causing it all. Now we just treat what pops up and have pretty much given up trying to actively find the cause.
Good luck - I'd focus on getting her pain under control and then go from there.

Jet very much enjoyed Lori's store.
Jeff had a treat in his pocket that crumbled by the time we got back to the hotel and when he pulled it out, the crumbs fell to the ground.
I don't think that girl has ever eaten crumbs off the ground.
Lori has made Jet an addict for these - click
