Thinking of you and Jack!
-
I'm going to add to this thread, even though it's old and probably long-dead!
I went through one bottle of this stuff, then thought I'd try something locally available, then something that seemed to work in the bowl the way the Pet Digest did, and am now back price-crunching for Pet Digest!
I talked to my vet about it, and he said generally you'd need to about triple the dose on a product like this to see any measurable effect, and that it needed to be under the right conditions to work (temp, moisture). I'd been soaking Happy's food with the stuff on it, and it actually digests it right there in the bowl. It gets fluffy, like waffle batter. I've tried two other enzyme products, and neither one seems to have any effect on the food at all.
Now, I'm no scientist, but hopefully this translates to ACTUAL benefits, that work for Happy.
BTW, this is the cheapest I've found it so far.

I'm looping around, reading this sort of forwards and backwards, trying to get the updates! I'm so sorry about all the roller coaster confusion and upset!
Chanting!! *Ah, it's nothing, now! It'll all shrink up and go away, just a bad memory, and the money will heal, too! Ah, it's nothing, now! Look at that handsome fella!
How 'bout "Bo Jangles"?
"I knew a man Bojangles and he'd dance for you
In worn out shoes
With silver hair, a ragged shirt, and baggy pants
The old soft shoe
He jumped so high, jumped so high
Then he lightly touched down..."
We had a Siamese cat that StOmPeD around like a little elephant, and that's what we called him.

Looked around a bit more online, and non-sponsored reviews aren't so good. Guess I'll give it a miss. Thanks for looking!

Saw this linked somewhere, and looked at it. Happy has her issues, which we're dealing with, but wondering if this might help. Anyone try this?
-
Excellent! It's what we "wished" for, so yeay!!!

Not sure what you mean by "sacrificial protein", but agreeing with silverfish about changing the food. If he's not eating, what's to change? Can't get any worse than starving! Of course it's a tough decision that only you can make, but I think I would be trying new stuff, knowing that all the old stuff didn't help, and he's not eating it anyway.
BIG HUGS!!

Keeping you all in my thoughts! If IBD is the hoped-for diagnosis, then count me in on the chant! Otherwise, I'll be chanting for something minor that will just go away!!!
*chanting!*

Oh man. Weird stuff! I hope whatever it is settles down and just goes away on its own!
-
No advice but hugs!
Well, maybe one thought: How about something sticky - booties or goo or something - for his feet, to help avoid slipping? I've got a TheraPaw cushy paw slipper for Wabi, and I think it helps. There are also Pawz, those rubber balloon-like things. They're pretty cheap, too, which always helps.
Hoping you all get some relief soon.

What a relief!!
Happy went through a similar train of possible diagnosis, and her's seems to be hormonal. She's doing really well, right now. I hope your baby will have a similarly boring recovery, with lots of time and energy for FUN!
Thanks for the update!!

Just seeing this, and holding you both in my thoughts.
Chanting: *What, those little spots? Just shadows! I'm fine!!! What, those little spots? Just shadows! I'm fine!!! What, those little spots? Just shadows! I'm fine!!! *

I feel you! Hang in there, the two of you!! :bighug

Poor gal!
No advice (except wondering about wrapping, too), but lots of hugs for both of you.

Tissues hard at work here.
Your mutual love has been touching and wonderful to watch. I can feel the warmth of it all the way over here, through my own tears, and I assume yours as well.

So glad to hear he's home!
Keep strong, keep positive!
Have a nice evening cuddling with your boys.

Keeping you, Sam and your finances in my thoughts!
Hopefully it will turn out to be benign! It could still happen! If it isn't, you'll find a way to deal, even though it won't be easy. Talk to the vet about paying over time. Also, does his having been a blood donor get you anything? My dogs get free blood if needed, and I have even been able to trade credit for their donations against my (sigh!) ongoing bill.
Best of luck to you both!

You're in a terrible place. I'm keeping my thoughts on you and Safari.

A lot of this is familiar to me, too, but I'm still in the mystery and tests stage, too, so all I can offer is sympathetic hugs and well-wishes!
-
Well, yeay!!

You might try the Rescue Cream anyway, to give him some relief, if it's itchy. Someone knowledgeable at a nearby pet supply place (small store, well-informed staff) suggested cold-pressed coconut oil as a great skin ointment, which is also food-grade, which is good in case he licks it off. I think I'll try that when this tube of RC runs out.

That looks very like the rash I've been dealing with on Happy since we got her over a year ago. The vets can't figure it out (even after punch biopsy!), and the only things I've been able to do that seem to help it (after trying simple non-perfumed laundry soap, fish oil, antibiotics, ultra low-allergen food ... ) are a cotton shirt to minimize contact with possible irritants, and keep her from scratching/biting; and Rescue Cream (same people who brought you Rescue Remedy) once a day. That (along with continuing with the rest of it) brought it down to just a few, smaller, spots that don't seem to bother her much. I'm also wondering if it isn't particularly irritated by grass, which is not a problem for us this time of year, but might be for you.
Good luck!
Topical Solutions For Dry Skin

YES!! Coconut oil! I've started using it on Happy's tummy rash (and dry spot), and it's working nicely. Plus, it's non-toxic (in case of licking)! It's solid, more so than butter or shortening, so I warmed a blob into a small container lined with plastic wrap, to make a palm-sized "bar", which I just rub right on her skin. The warmth from her skin is enough to melt it in, then I rub it a bit. I have to say, it's leaving grease stains on the dog beds, but it's working!
