  1. keep up the pepcid and I'd add carafate (prescription) or reglan. They should have given you something for her stomach. As someone mentioned, warm up the canned. Try canned only, 95% meat. If you boil hamburger or chicken, add a touch of garlic. You need stinky or sweet. Canned salmon or jack mackeral. Yogurt--vanilla regular. Do you have frozen BilJac where you are? Solid Gold Barking at the Moon, EVO red meat, CORE -- these kibbles she doesn't have to eat a lot of. I know after chemo, kibble gave Winslow the runs. Macaroni & cheese, lorna doone cookies. Warm the biscuits a little. Sending prayers!
  2. I'd skip the rawhides Many can't handle them and some cause blockages. Check his feet for corns. Sending prayers he is fine!
  3. Winslow saw the photos of Darcy and Ember. He says: " Ember, honey you are very very cute. I really love your eyes. We are all hoping you get your chemo and it doesn't make you sick... Just keep eating and you'll be fine. My mom gave me anything I wanted during chemo..It was great! I think your dad has the right idea... he knows how to get to Burger King. When my mom has time to help me, I'll send you a slide show..like I did for Darcy, but I need your email address because we can't post them...(copyright stuff.) but they sure are fun. Darcy, You know I love you... That eyebrow is getting more beautiful every day... I saw you at your party and wished I was there. That blue sofa looks really comfy, too! I hope your whole family is doing well.. Give em all a sniff for me, ok? Hey girls, I just had a cardio check up... The doctor says my big beautiful heart can handle 2 girlfriends, and I love you both! THANKS for the photos!" Love, Winslow
  4. Once again: put her on straight BilJac frozen (no treats, no nothing else). If she does not get a good stool, there is something wrong that can range from bacteria to allergies.
  5. November 3, 2008 Good Afternoon Diane, We hope you are feeling better. Winslow is enjoying the autumn weather... Someone asked if he was wearing a curly wig. Nope, it's just his imitation of a Borzoi.. He never really shed much over the summer, even though I vacuumed him and used the "Furminator".. It's all back again, and he's as furry as ever. Saves money on coats. I think I'm forgiven for the Halloween incident, but it took some extra biscuits. Here's some photos: Walking with Dad. Checking on the flowers. Relaxing on the deck. Glynis I replied: I want to join Winslow on the porch.....

    Eliza

Another year passes and I still cry when I write/copy this. Ten years she's been gone! I can't believe it still hurts so much Please do the blood work and read the product insert! Nothing has changed, except the year.....so I just copied and pasted, and changed the year Its been 10 years since her light left my life and this earth. Be aware of the side effects of all NSAIDs. Make sure you receive a product insert. Make sure blood work is done before starting on them (for instance, this is Pfizer's protocol regarding rimadyl--not mine!) and at two weeks (yes, two weeks--had that been done, I believe Eliza could have been saved), then every 6 weeks. Make sure platelets are checked in addition to kidney & liver function. Do not treat these drugs lightly--there is a reason that death was added as a side effect! I say this because I have noticed that many people pop NSAIDs into their pets like we take aspirin or ibuprofen. There is a reason the drug companies say "do blood work before dispensing". Listen to your vet if he/she recommends blood work, and if he/she does not do blood work, request it! I have managed for 10 years and with 19+ other seniors to treat without the use of NSAIDs. Thank heaven!!! I thought the other day while updating the Rainbow Land thread, about meeting her and seeing that great big smile and hugging her and telling her how sorry I am. That day is not too far off and I hope I can leave my guilt at the bridge when we go over....... I you Eliza Jane.
  7. Sending lots of prayers. Can you pill her without food if she won't take anything? I wonder at her age if a couple of shots of antibiotic would help. Go stinky: salmon, jack mackeral, etc. and sweet: Hawaiian sweet rolls, shortbread cookies I've had them eat milk bones (or any kind of "treat") and that is fine--just get the calories in.
  8. I know how hard it is to lose a friend. He is fine--able to run and jump again.
  9. Sending lots of prayers. Hopefully they are loading her up with carafate and other stomach meds.
  10. Sending lots of prayers! Yes, acupuncture will help NO! You can use NSAIDs with tramadol, or pred with tramadol -- do not mix NSAIDs and pred!
  11. Mahogany was on 100mg of tramadol every 4-6 hours and 30-100mg of morphine every 12 hours. You can also add neurontin to the mix. Sending prayers!
  12. October 31, 2008 Good Evening Diane, Well, it's Halloween... Inspired by the collar Winslow won at a recent auction, I decided to dress him as "The Blue Flame--Guardian of all things Greyhound".. So, I made him a quick little mask and put a towel cape on him.. He had this to say about it: "Get this off of me NOW! I love my Blue Flame collar but this is just too much. This is why dogs bite people! ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND??? I'll wear a hat, I'll paint, I'll pose for my cards.. But this is just WRONG!" So, Craig sat at the bottom of the stairs and handed out candy. Winslow watched from the window and I threw his costume in the trash... I hope your pack has a good halloween. Glynis

  14. Sending my sympathy. I know how hard it is...
  15. Make sure the xrays are read by a radiologist.
  16. Talk to vet and see about 100mg of tramadol every 4 hours. Also, you can add morphine 30-100 mg twice a day.
